The Western Digital WD241KFGX in depth

Built for busy multi-user NAS

WD Red Pro drives are designed for high-intensity 24×7 workloads in business NAS systems, from file sharing and backup to virtualisation and collaboration. The 24TB WD241KFGX is rated for up to 550 TB/year and 2.5 million hours MTBF.

Tuned for RAID and dense enclosures

NASware technology tunes drive parameters for NAS systems, and Time-Limited Error Recovery keeps RAID arrays running. Rotational vibration safeguards and multi-axis shock sensors with dynamic fly height adjustment help maintain performance in tower and rack-mount NAS at any bay count.

The 24TB model uses Western Digital's OptiNAND technology, which adds embedded flash for key housekeeping tasks, together with helium-sealed CMR platters, 512 MB cache and a 7200 RPM spindle for up to 287 MB/s.
