The TP-Link VIGI PS90 is a solar system controller holding up to 93.6 Ah of automotive-grade lithium battery capacity (31.2 Ah per battery) in an IP66 weatherproof, lockable SGCC steel box. Each battery has its own protection circuit, and it adds a built-in MPPT controller, intelligent auxiliary heating, three DC outputs, an RJ45 port and remote management via the VIGI app or VIGI Cloud VMS.

VIGI PS90 overview

The VIGI PS90 is the larger of TP-Link's VIGI Solar System Controllers, presented under the line "Tailored Power, Unmatched Stability". It holds customised ternary lithium batteries totalling up to 93.6 Ah, at 31.2 Ah per battery, with a listed voltage of 10.95 V and a maximum output voltage of 12.6 V. Each battery measures 240 x 74 x 72 mm. TP-Link's key design point is the independent protection circuit: each individual battery has its own protection circuit, which prevents a failure in one battery from affecting the whole pack, so the other batteries keep working normally. TP-Link also lists discharge efficiency of up to 99% and more than 500 cycles, with over 70% remaining capacity after 500 cycles based on laboratory testing; actual performance varies with client limitations and environmental factors. TP-Link says that, based on 30 Ah capacity with a VIGI C540-4G, 500 cycles approximate a 10-year lifespan.

A built-in Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) controller optimises solar panel power and reduces power losses; TP-Link says it increases charging efficiency by 20% compared with PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) controllers, with actual performance varying with conditions. Intelligent auxiliary heating lets the battery operate across a wide temperature range: charging is listed at 0 to 45 degrees C, or -30 to 45 degrees C with heating, and discharging at -20 to 60 degrees C, or -30 to 60 degrees C with heating. TP-Link notes the auxiliary heat turns on only when the photovoltaic system has a certain input or the battery has a certain amount of power, and quotes a 21.14% discharge improvement over a battery without heating in its test (a 20 degrees C ageing box at 1 A constant-current discharge).

The enclosure is built for outdoor use. TP-Link describes high-quality SGCC galvanised steel with a resin powder coat for corrosion resistance, an engineering-grade outdoor lock with a polyamide sheath that resists clogging and rust, a zinc alloy hinge allowing 180-degree opening, a polyurethane foam rubber waterproof ring, a drainage design that channels any water that enters out through designated holes, and an explosion-proof valve. The unit is rated IP66 with operating humidity of 10 to 90% RH non-condensing.

Connections are a three-pin female connector for the controller, a three-pin male connector for the modular battery, two four-pin female connectors for solar panels, one 10/100 Mbps RJ45 port and three 5.5 mm DC power plugs (plugs 1 and 2 at 9 to 12.6 V DC 2 A, plug 3 at 12 V DC 2 A). Six blue LEDs show system, LAN, PV and three battery indicators. Through the VIGI app or VIGI Cloud VMS you can monitor power statistics, receive low-battery alerts, update firmware and reboot remotely, with load control, schedule saving and remote message push. The product weighs 16.5 kg (24 kg packed) and comes with an installation guide, waterproof cable attachments, mounting accessories, an extension cable and a box key.
