The TP-Link VIGI PS90 is a VIGI solar system controller with a built-in MPPT controller, lithium battery capacity of up to 93.6 Ah (31.2 Ah per battery) and intelligent auxiliary heating. It provides three DC outputs and a 10/100 Mbps RJ45 port, is IP66 certified, and is managed remotely through the VIGI app or VIGI Cloud VMS.

VIGI PS90 overview

The VIGI PS90 is the controller at the centre of a VIGI solar power system. It has a built-in MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) controller, which TP-Link says optimises solar panel power, reduces power losses and increases charging efficiency by 20 per cent compared with PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) controllers. Its connections are two four-pin female connectors for the solar panel, a three-pin female connector for the controller, a three-pin male connector for the modular battery, one 10/100 Mbps RJ45 port and three 5.5 mm DC power plugs. Outputs #1 and #2 supply 9 to 12.6 VDC at 2 A and output #3 supplies 12 VDC at 2 A, for powering connected devices.

Energy storage is lithium. Battery capacity is listed as 93.6 Ah maximum, with 31.2 Ah per lithium battery, a battery voltage of 10.95 V and a maximum output voltage of 12.6 V. Each lithium battery measures 240 x 74 x 72 mm. TP-Link says each individual battery has its own protection circuit, which prevents a failure in one battery from affecting the entire pack, for battery safety and uninterrupted device operation. Software protections include high and low temperature protection and overdischarge protection, and load control is supported. The package listing does not include a solar panel, so plan the panel separately.

For cold sites, the battery supports intelligent auxiliary heating technology, which TP-Link says lets it operate normally across a wide temperature range. Charging is rated from 0 to 45 degrees C, or -30 to 45 degrees C with intelligent auxiliary heating; discharging is rated from -20 to 60 degrees C, or -30 to 60 degrees C with heating. Intelligent auxiliary heating control and smart charging control both operate in the -30 to 5 degrees C range. Overall, the system's operating temperature is -30 to 60 degrees C with intelligent auxiliary heating, at 10 to 90 per cent RH non-condensing. Certifications are CB and PSE for the battery, and CE, FCC, VCCI, IC and IP66.

Remote management avoids site visits. TP-Link says the PS90 integrates with network devices for centralised control via the VIGI app or VIGI Cloud VMS, so you can remotely monitor power statistics, receive low-battery alerts, update firmware and reboot the system without needing to be on site. The software also provides power consumption statistics, real-time load status, battery level display, time zone selection, schedule saving, remote reset, remote message push, account management and local LAN management. Six blue LEDs show SYS, LAN, PV and three BAT states. The product weighs 16.5 kg (24 kg packaged). In the box are the VIGI PS90, an installation guide, waterproof cable attachments, mounting accessories, an extension cable and a box key. ARC IP Networks supplies the VIGI PS90 from Australian stock with the full manufacturer's warranty.
