The TP-Link VIGI PS30 is a solar system controller with a built-in 31.2 Ah, 10.8 V automotive-grade lithium battery for powering VIGI cameras and network devices from a solar panel. It has an MPPT charging controller, intelligent auxiliary heating for cold-weather charging, three 5.5 mm DC outputs and a 10/100 Mbps RJ45 port, remote management through the VIGI app or VIGI Cloud VMS, and an IP66 weatherproof rating.

VIGI PS30 overview

The VIGI PS30 is the 31.2 Ah controller in TP-Link's VIGI solar power system range. It brings together a lithium battery, a solar charging controller and the power outputs for connected devices in one IP66 weatherproof unit. TP-Link describes the battery as a 31.2 Ah, 10.8 V automotive-grade lithium battery with a maximum output voltage of 12.6 V, and quotes a life of more than 500 cycles. A cycle is one full charge and discharge; TP-Link says that, based on 30 Ah capacity powering a VIGI C540-4G, 500 cycles approximate a 10-year lifespan. It also states the battery retains more than 70% of its capacity after 500 cycles, a figure from laboratory testing, with actual performance varying with client limitations and environmental factors.

Charging is handled by a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) controller, which TP-Link says increases charging efficiency by 20% compared with a PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) controller; actual performance varies with client limitations and environmental factors. For cold climates, intelligent auxiliary heating extends the battery's operating range. Without heating, TP-Link lists charging at 0 to 45 degrees C and discharging at -20 to 60 degrees C; with intelligent auxiliary heating, charging is listed at -30 to 45 degrees C and discharging at -30 to 60 degrees C. Smart charging control operates between -30 and 5 degrees C. Protections cover over-charge, over-discharge, over-current, overheat and short circuit, along with high and low temperature protection.

Connections are one photovoltaic panel connector for the solar panel, three 5.5 mm DC power plugs for loads (plugs 1 and 2 at 9 to 12.6 V DC 2 A, plug 3 at 12 V DC 2 A) and one 10/100 Mbps RJ45 port. Four blue LEDs show system, LAN, PV and battery status. TP-Link lists remote management and maintenance through the VIGI app or VIGI Cloud VMS, with features including load control, power consumption statistics, real-time load status, battery level display, time zone and region selection, schedule saving, remote firmware update, remote reboot and reset, local LAN management, account management and remote message push.

The battery measures 242 x 70 x 65 mm. Certifications are CB and PSE for the battery, and CE, FCC, VCCI, IC and IP66 weatherproof for the unit. Operating temperature is -30 to 60 degrees C with intelligent auxiliary heating, and operating humidity 10 to 90% RH non-condensing. The package contains the VIGI Solar System Controller, a quick start guide, waterproof cable attachments and mounting accessories; the shipping box measures 580 x 320 x 225 mm and the package weighs 9.9 kg. The solar panel is a separate item.
