The TP-Link VIGI NVR4064H is a 64-channel network video recorder with 260 Mbps of incoming bandwidth by default, or 320 Mbps in Extended Bandwidth Mode, four SATA hard drive bays and two gigabit Ethernet ports for network fault tolerance and port aggregation. It records up to 8MP with H.265+, has independent 4K HDMI and VGA outputs with up to 64-window live view, 16/4 alarm I/O and one-click system initialisation.

VIGI NVR4064H overview

The VIGI NVR4064H is TP-Link's VIGI 64-channel network video recorder, with the headline "Security Never Shuts Down". It accepts 64 channels of IP video. Incoming bandwidth is 260 Mbps by default and 320 Mbps in Extended Bandwidth Mode, and outgoing bandwidth is 180 Mbps by default and 320 Mbps in Extended Bandwidth Mode. It records at resolutions up to 8MP, with 5MP, 4MP, 3MP, 1080p and lower also listed, using H.265+, H.265, H.264+ or H.264 video compression and G.711A, G.711U or G.726 audio. Decoding capability is listed as sixteen channels at 2MP, thirty-two at 720p or sixty-four at D1 at 25 fps, and four channels at 8MP, six at 5MP or eight at 4MP at 30 fps. Up to 16 channels can play back synchronously; TP-Link notes that fewer than 16, or none, may play simultaneously if the total resolution exceeds 32MP.

Record modes are manual, scheduled and motion-detection recording, with instant, regular, tag and event playback, and backups as regular or video clip backup. Playback controls include play, pause, stop, fast forward and backward, frame-by-frame, full screen, video clip and clip export, digital zoom, recording lock and audio on/off. Storage is provided by four SATA interfaces, each supporting a hard drive of up to 16 TB (hard drives are not included), plus one eSATA interface, two front USB 2.0 ports and one rear USB 3.0 port. TP-Link's One-Click System Initialise lets VIGI NVRs add cameras, initialise hard drives and set storage schedules with a single click, which TP-Link says reduces setup expenses.

Networking is a highlight. The NVR4064H has two RJ45 10/100/1000 Mbps ports, and TP-Link lists three dual-port modes: Multi-Address Mode, which allows two different gateways; network fault tolerance, which creates a safeguard or redundancy for your data; and port aggregation, which realises bandwidth stacking and mutual backup. For local viewing, the HDMI output reaches 3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz and the VGA output 1920 x 1080 at 60 Hz, and the two run as independent outputs. Multi-view layouts go from 1 to 4, 6, 8, 9, 16, 25, 32, 36, 49 or 64 windows, so all 64 channels can be shown on one screen. Interoperability is listed as ONVIF Profile S/T/G and CGI, and remote viewing is available from Android and iOS phones or Chrome, Firefox and Edge browsers.

Alarm features, which require a camera, include motion detection, video tampering, scene change, line-crossing, intrusion, region entering and exiting, loitering, object abandoned or removed, vehicle and human detection, abnormal sound detection and Smart Frame. Anomaly alarms cover video loss, offline and IP conflict, disk, login and fan exceptions, and alarm linkage options are recording, white light alarm, buzzer, log and audible alarm. For integration there are sixteen alarm inputs and four alarm outputs, an RS232 serial interface and one-channel RCA audio input and output; TP-Link's port diagram shows detectors such as smoke and infrared detectors on the alarm inputs and a horn or alarm bell on the outputs. The unit takes 100 to 240 V AC at 50 to 60 Hz (1.5 A), drawing up to 6.95 W without disks and 48.38 W with disks. It measures 440 x 330 x 44 mm, weighs 4.0 kg net, and operates from -10 to 55 degrees C at 10 to 90% RH non-condensing. Because of its weight, TP-Link recommends using a tray (not included) when rack mounting with angle iron.
