The TP-Link VIGI NVR2016H-16MP is a 16-channel PoE+ network video recorder with sixteen 802.3af/at PoE ports (up to 30 W per port), 320 Mbps incoming bandwidth, recording up to 8MP, 4K HDMI and 1080p VGA outputs, and two SATA drive bays. It adds NVR-side motion, line crossing and intrusion detection with human and vehicle classification, and one-click system initialisation.

VIGI NVR2016H-16MP overview

The VIGI NVR2016H-16MP is VIGI's 16-channel PoE+ network video recorder. It accepts 16 channels of IP video input with 320 Mbps of incoming bandwidth and 320 Mbps of outgoing bandwidth, and records at resolutions up to 8MP, with 5MP, 4MP, 3MP, 1080p and lower also supported. Decoding capability is listed as 4 channels at 8MP, 6 channels at 5MP or 8 channels at 4MP at 30 fps, and 10 channels at 3MP or 16 channels at 1080p at 25 fps. Video compression covers H.265+, H.265, H.264+ and H.264, and audio compression covers G.711A, G.711U and G.726. VIGI says its NVRs enable quick camera additions, HDD initialisation and storage scheduling with a single click, reducing setup expenses.

Cameras connect directly to the sixteen built-in PoE ports, numbered 1 to 16. Each is a 10/100 Mbps RJ45 port compliant with 802.3at/af, with up to 30 W per port. The recorder itself connects to your network through a 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 Ethernet interface. Storage is provided by two SATA interfaces for internal hard drives, and HDD power and data cables are included in the box. There is also one front USB 2.0 port and one rear USB 3.0 port, a 1-channel RCA audio input and output, and six alarm inputs and four alarm outputs.

For display, the NVR has one HDMI output at up to 3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz and one VGA output at up to 1920 x 1080 at 60 Hz, which can run as independent outputs, with 1/4/6/8/9/16 multi-view layouts. Recording modes are manual, scheduled and motion detection recording, and playback modes are instant, regular, tag and event playback, with digital zoom, clip export and recording lock. The NVR runs its own AI on up to 4 channels simultaneously: motion detection, line crossing detection and intrusion detection, each enhanced with human and vehicle classification for more accurate alerts. When paired with AI cameras it also handles camera-side events such as people and vehicle attribute analytics, region entering and exiting, loitering and abnormal sound detection.

Alarm linkage includes recording, white light alarm, buzzer, log and audible alarm, plus anomaly alarms for video loss, offline and IP conflict, disk exception, login exception and fan exception; VIGI notes the alarm functions require the use of a camera. Mobile access is available on Android and iOS, along with web browser access, and the NVR supports ONVIF Profile S and CGI. Power comes from a 53.5 V DC / 3.37 A adapter, with maximum consumption of 6.2 W without disks and 40 W with disks. It measures 330 x 285 x 45 mm and operates from -10 to 55 °C. ARC IP Networks supplies the VIGI NVR2016H-16MP from Australian stock with the full manufacturer's warranty.
