The TOUGHCable PRO in depth

Outdoor shielded Category 5e cabling

TOUGHCable PRO is described by Ubiquiti as Category 5e Outdoor Carrier Class Shielded Cable, part of its industrial-grade TOUGHCable Ethernet range in 24 AWG. The cross-section in the guide shows a conductor, insulation, an ESD drain wire, a separation, a cable shield, a rip cord and a weatherproof jacket.

A 3 m cut length

This listing is a 3 m length of TOUGHCable PRO, cut from Ubiquiti's 1000 ft (304.8 m) box. You receive the 3 m length, not the full box. It is cable only. TOUGHCable Ethernet Connectors are sold separately in 100-count packages. Ubiquiti says they help protect against Ethernet Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) attacks and hardware damage, and allow rapid field deployment without soldering. Ubiquiti's guide covers terminating the cable to the T568B wiring specification, using wire strippers/cutters, cable crimpers and needle-nose pliers.

No. TOUGHCable Ethernet Connectors are sold separately and come in 100-count packages. Ubiquiti designed them for use with TOUGHCable cabling.

Ubiquiti's guide uses the Cable Wiring Specification T568B. Pin 0 is the copper drain wire on the PRO cable, and pins 1 to 8 follow the T568B colour order.

Per Ubiquiti, TOUGHCable CARRIER is also Category 5e outdoor carrier-class shielded cable. It adds an Anti-Crosstalk Divider and additional shielding, and is designed to provide optimal performance on Gigabit Ethernet networks.

Ubiquiti lists TOUGHCable Ethernet Cabling, TOUGHCable Ethernet Connectors, wire strippers/cutters, cable crimpers and needle-nose pliers. The guide says to strip roughly 22 mm of jacket.

Ubiquiti's limited warranty runs for one (1) year from the date of shipment by Ubiquiti Networks. It applies only if all Ethernet cabling runs use CAT5 (or above), and for outdoor installations, shielded Ethernet cabling is used.
