The TP-Link UH700 is a USB 3.0 7-port hub with seven standard USB-A ports at up to 5 Gbps, powered by the included 12V 2A adapter. TP-Link rates it at up to 5V/1.5A output for charging, and it connects to your computer through a USB 3.0 Micro-B input with the 1.0 m cable supplied. It has short circuit, over-voltage, over-current and over-heating protection.

UH700 overview

TP-Link's UH700 is a desktop USB 3.0 hub with seven data transfer ports, so you do not have to switch between devices. TP-Link positions it for anyone whose computer has only one or two USB ports, or ports in difficult-to-reach locations. All seven outputs are USB 3.0 Standard-A, and the hub links to the computer through a USB 3.0 Micro-B input using the 1.0 m USB 3.0 cable in the box. It runs from the included 12V 2A power adapter.

USB 3.0 gives up to 5 Gbps, which TP-Link says is ten times standard USB 2.0. Its example: a 1080p movie transfers in under 2 minutes 18 seconds through a USB 3.0 port, against 7 minutes 36 seconds on a USB 2.0 hub, with the footnote that actual speed depends on the setting of the connected device. For charging, TP-Link states the UH700 delivers up to 5V/1.5A output, which it says charges 67% faster and saves up to 30% of charging time compared with a 5V/0.9A hub; its example is a Galaxy S6 edge fully charged in 100 minutes rather than 150. TP-Link notes exact charging time may vary with the actual charging situation.

The circuit design protects connected devices against short circuit, over-voltage, over-current and over-heating, and a built-in surge protector keeps devices and data safe during transfers. Ports can be hot swapped while the computer is on and running. No drivers are needed for Windows 11/10/8.1/8/7/Vista/XP, Mac OS X or Linux. The hub measures 165 x 65.5 x 17.5 mm, and the package holds the UH700, the 12V 2A adapter, the 1.0 m USB 3.0 cable and a quick installation guide. TP-Link's AU page lists hardware versions V2 and V4.
