The TP-Link VIGI C540V is a 4MP outdoor full-colour pan tilt camera with two lenses instead of one. It switches between a short and a long lens for 3x mixed zoom (4 to 12 mm listed), with VIGI DORI figures of 80 m detect at 4 mm and 150 m detect at 8 mm. It pans 0 to 332 degrees and tilts 0 to 120 degrees, tracks people and vehicles, and adds three white LEDs and one IR LED to 30 m, two-way audio, a microSD slot, IP66 and 802.3at PoE.

VIGI C540V overview

Unlike the single fixed-lens C540-W and C540-4G, the VIGI C540V has two lenses, a short and a long one, and switches between them for zoom. VIGI lists the focal length as 4 to 12 mm (mixed zoom) and the zoom as 3x mixed zoom, at F1.6. TP-Link says zooming is instantaneous, without lag or image dragging, thanks to its own algorithm; that the zoom is completely noiseless because no extra mechanical moving components are needed; and that switching seamlessly between the long and short lens reduces lens wear, so the camera is less likely to fail or tremble outdoors. VIGI publishes DORI distances at two focal lengths: at 4 mm, detect 80 m, observe 33 m, recognise 16 m and identify 8 m; at 8 mm, detect 150 m, observe 63 m, recognise 30 m and identify 15 m. The listed field of view is 84 degrees horizontal, 46 degrees vertical and 100 degrees diagonal.

The pan tilt head moves 0 to 332 degrees in pan and 0 to 120 degrees in tilt, at configurable speeds of 8 to 44 degrees per second (preset speed 44 degrees per second), with manual control at 8 to 35 degrees per second. It stores 300 presets and 8 patrols of up to 8 presets each, and offers power-off memory, park action and 3D positioning. Automatic tracking continues following specified moving persons or vehicles while the camera analyses the image.

For colour after dark, the C540V has three white LEDs and one 850 nm IR LED, all rated to 30 m, with an IR-cut filter and a minimum illumination of 0.005 lux (0 lux with IR or white light). TP-Link says it monitors clear and colourful details 24 hours a day using its large-aperture lens, high-sensitivity sensor and supplemental lights. The sensor is a 1/3-inch progressive scan CMOS, and video reaches 2560 x 1440 with H.265+, H.265, H.264+ or H.264 at 256 Kbps to 4 Mbps on the main stream.

Human and vehicle classification separates people and vehicles from other objects, and detection rules cover area intrusion, line-crossing, region entering and exiting, object abandoned and removal, abnormal sound, people and vehicle detection. Active Defence warns intruders with sound and light, and two-way audio uses the built-in microphone and speaker. Alarm actions include memory card recording to the built-in microSD slot (listed at up to 512 GB in the spec table). The C540V runs on 802.3at PoE (class 4, max 16 W) or 12 V DC (max 14 W), is rated IP66, measures 107 x 136 x 139 mm, weighs 0.43 kg and operates from -30 to 60 degrees C. It is managed with the VIGI app, VIGI Security Manager or web UI, with ONVIF Profile S.

At 4 mm: detect 80 m, observe 33 m, recognise 16 m, identify 8 m. At 8 mm: detect 150 m, observe 63 m, recognise 30 m, identify 15 m.

TP-Link says zoom is instantaneous without lag or image dragging, and noiseless because no extra mechanical moving components are needed.

Pan 0 to 332 degrees and tilt 0 to 120 degrees, with 300 presets and 8 patrols.

Yes. Three white LEDs reach 30 m for colour images, and one 850 nm IR LED also reaches 30 m.

Yes, 802.3at PoE (class 4, max 16 W). It can also run from 12 V DC (max 14 W). A power adapter is not listed in the box.

Yes, through a built-in microphone and speaker, which also serves Active Defence sound warnings.
