The TP-Link VIGI C450(2.8mm) is a 5MP full-colour turret network camera with the wide 2.8 mm F1.6 lens: 109 degrees horizontally, with published detection at 64 m and identification at 6 m. A 1/2.7-inch sensor with 120 dB WDR records up to 2880 x 1620, two white and two IR LEDs reach 30 m, and it adds two-way audio, sound and light alarms, Corridor Mode, AI detection, microSD recording and PoE or 12 V DC power.

VIGI C450(2.8mm) overview

TP-Link offers the VIGI C450 5MP full-colour turret with 2.8 mm and 4 mm lenses, and the camera on this page is the 2.8 mm version. Its F1.6 lens gives the widest view in the C450 range at 109 degrees horizontal, 57 degrees vertical and 128 degrees diagonal, while TP-Link's DORI distances for the 2.8 mm lens are detect 64 m, observe 27 m, recognise 13 m and identify 6 m. A 1/2.7-inch progressive scan CMOS records up to 2880 x 1620, which TP-Link describes as more than enough pixels to pick up some of the more discrete details, and the main stream also offers 2688 x 1520, 2304 x 1296, 2048 x 1280, 1920 x 1080 and 1280 x 720.

TP-Link says the C450 monitors 24-hour clear and colourful details even on a pitch-dark night using its large-aperture lens, high-sensitivity sensor and attached supplemental lights. Those lights are two white LEDs and two 850 nm IR LEDs with a 30 m range, controllable as auto, scheduled, always on or always off, and minimum illumination is 0.005 lux, or 0 lux with IR or white light. The 120 dB WDR is listed as True WDR, alongside 3D DNR, Smart IR, night vision, BLC and HLC; TP-Link footnotes that only DWDR is supported while People and Vehicle Analytics is enabled. Corridor Mode rotates the image and lens 90 degrees together, changing the aspect ratio from 16:9 to 9:16 to help monitor long and narrow areas.

AI chips distinguish humans and vehicles from other objects, and detection rules can be pre-set so the camera captures abnormal events with fewer false alarms. Supported smart events are area intrusion, line-crossing, people and vehicle detection, region entering and exiting, object abandoned and removal, loitering, abnormal sound and scene change. People and Vehicle Analytics filters people by attributes such as gender, hair length and clothing, and vehicles by colour and type, and the camera supports simultaneous detection and capture of human bodies and vehicles. TP-Link's Active Defense warns potential intruders with sound and light, and the built-in speaker and 5 m radius microphone support two-way conversations while watching the feed.

Power is by PoE (listed as 802.3at, class 0) over a single RJ45 cable or 12 V DC via a 5.5 mm coaxial plug, with a 9 W maximum and typical consumption of 1.76 W by day, 3.5 W at night with IR and 3.8 W at night with white light. The turret measures 123 mm in diameter by 84 mm and weighs 0.24 kg; the bracket pans 0 to 360 degrees and tilts 0 to 85 degrees. TP-Link lists protection as N/A. Onboard storage is a microSD slot listed at up to 512 GB in the specification table (the feature summary says 256 GB), with the card not included. TP-Link also notes that tile encoding is enabled in H.265 mode above a horizontal resolution of 2688, so third-party NVRs without tile encoding cannot use H.265, and it recommends VIGI NVRs.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about the VIGI C450(2.8mm) from the ARC IP Networks team.

Last reviewed October 2026.

The 2.8 mm F1.6 fixed lens, the wider of the two C450 lens options.

109 degrees horizontally, 57 degrees vertically and 128 degrees diagonally.

Detect 64 m, observe 27 m, recognise 13 m and identify 6 m.

It rotates the live image and lens 90 degrees clockwise together, changing the aspect ratio from 16:9 to 9:16 to help monitor long and narrow areas.

Yes. It has a built-in speaker and microphone, and events can trigger an audible warning and white-light flashing.

TP-Link notes that only DWDR is supported while People and Vehicle Analytics is enabled; otherwise WDR is rated at 120 dB.

TP-Link says tile encoding is enabled automatically in H.265 mode above a horizontal resolution of 2688. An NVR that does not support tile encoding cannot use H.265 mode, so TP-Link recommends VIGI NVRs.

Up to 9 W, with typical figures of 1.76 W by day, 3.5 W at night with IR and 3.8 W with white light. It runs on PoE or 12 V DC.

No. The slot is listed at up to 512 GB in the specifications, but the card is not included.
