The TP-Link TC82 KIT pairs the Tapo TC82 2K battery camera with a Tapo A201 solar panel and angle-adjustable bracket. TP-Link says 45 minutes of daily direct sunlight keeps the camera monitoring all day under its standard test conditions, and the built-in battery covers up to 180 days without sun under Tapo lab conditions. The camera adds full-colour night vision with two spotlights, person detection, a custom sound and light alarm and IP65 weather resistance.

TC82 KIT overview

TP-Link Australia sells the TC82 KIT as a solar-powered security camera kit for wire-free ease and continuous protection. In the box is the TC82 camera together with a Tapo A201 solar panel, its angle-adjustable bracket, a base cover, an extension wire, a USB adapter cable, screw caps, a cable zip tie, mounting screws and anchors and two mounting template stickers. TP-Link's AU site lists the kit as V1, V2 and V2.20, and the details here follow its current V2.20 page.

The headline is power without wiring or recharging. TP-Link states that 45 minutes of daily direct sunlight ensures all-day monitoring, a figure based on standard conditions (1000 W/m², 25 °C, AM1.5) and up to 100 events per day, so the time actually needed varies. If the sun disappears, the built-in rechargeable battery is rated for up to 180 days on one charge, measured in Tapo laboratory tests at 250 seconds of use per day. The solar panel uses monocrystalline silicon cells, outputs through Type-C at a maximum of 5.2 V and 2.5 W, and connects to one camera only.

You can join the camera and panel as one unit or mount the panel separately on a wall or roof, adjusting its bracket to catch enough sunlight; the extension wire allows the panel to be placed away from the camera. TP-Link names the back yard, driveway and front yard as placements. The panel measures 173.42 x 120.42 x 15.7 mm and the camera D60 x 89 mm, and the camera can be mounted on a wall or ceiling or stood on a tabletop.

On the camera side, the kit records 2K 3MP at 2304 x 1296 and 15 fps through a 3.17 mm F1.65 lens with a 111° horizontal view, using a 1/2.8-inch starlight sensor. Built-in spotlights produce colour night vision up to 30 ft, with 850 nm IR listed at 9.1 m. Person detection works with activity zones defined for people, and privacy zones let you exclude areas such as a neighbour's property. A 94 dB siren and the dual spotlights combine in a custom sound and light alarm, and two-way audio lets you talk with guests or delivery drivers.

TP-Link states the kit continues to record during a storm, power outage or Wi-Fi disruption, and that as a battery camera it records motion clips on activity rather than continuously. Clips are stored on a microSD card of up to 512 GB (not included) or in Tapo Care cloud storage with a subscription. The camera is IP65 rated for dust and water and works from -20 °C to 45 °C, joining 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi directly without a hub. Alexa and Google Assistant views need a supported display.
