The TP-Link TC50 KIT combines a 2K 3MP pan/tilt camera, an 800-lumen motion-activated floodlight and a Tapo A201 solar panel in one wire-free kit. The camera covers 360° horizontally, tracks people, pets and vehicles detected by free AI, and offers 24/7 continuous capture at intervals between events. TP-Link rates the battery at up to 140 days without sunlight and says 45 minutes of direct sun powers a full day, both under stated test conditions. TP-Link's AU page uses images of the Tapo C615F KIT.

TC50 KIT overview

TP-Link Australia sells the TC50 KIT as a solar-powered floodlight pan/tilt security camera kit for wire-free installation with smart lighting. Its AU overview and gallery show the Tapo C615F KIT, the international version. The kit includes the TC50 camera, a Tapo A201 solar panel with its bracket, a base cover, a USB charging cable, a solar extension cable, mounting screws and anchors and two template stickers. Camera and panel can be combined into one unit, or the panel can be placed up to 13 ft away on the cable for better sun on garages, yards or entryways.

The floodlight is the defining feature. It produces up to 800 lumens at 4000K, is dimmable, can be triggered by motion or switched from the app, and can be angled 240° horizontally and 10° vertically. TP-Link claims it is 8x as bright as a standard spotlight camera, based on a lab comparison between the TC50 KIT and the Tapo C610 KIT, so real illumination varies. Two further spotlights and two 850 nm IR LEDs rated to 10 m provide full-colour and infrared night modes, and a sound and light alarm uses a 97 dB siren.

The 2K 3MP image is 2304 x 1296, with the specification table quoting up to 20 fps and 12x digital zoom from a 1/2.8-inch CMOS sensor and a 4 mm F1.6 lens (84° horizontal). The head pans 338° mechanically for 360° coverage and tilts 97°; TP-Link states the camera follows subjects with 360° horizontal and 130° vertical coverage, while the specification table lists 141° tilt coverage. Scheduled 360° scans can record panoramic videos, limited in number per day, or the camera can patrol key points and record when motion is detected.

AI detection for people, pets and vehicles is offered free, and a motion sensor with a 100° horizontal view is said to detect movement up to 60 ft away. 24/7 continuous capture takes images at intervals you choose, such as every 1, 5, 10 or up to 60 seconds, and switches to standard recording when an object is detected; the overview shows 1 fps without events and 15 fps once an event is detected. The camera keeps detecting and recording through power and Wi-Fi outages, and two-way audio with noise cancellation is built in.

Battery claims carry conditions: 45 minutes of direct sunlight powers the camera for a full day under standard conditions (1000 W/m², 25 °C, AM1.5) with up to 100 events per day, and battery life of up to 140 days without sunlight is based on lab tests at 300 seconds of use per day. Both camera and solar panel are IP65 rated; the camera operates from -20 °C to 45 °C and charges from 0 °C to 45 °C over Type-C at 5 V 2 A, with no adapter included. Storage is a microSD card of up to 512 GB (not included) or Tapo Care by subscription, and the camera measures 132.86 x 82 x 161.1 mm.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about the TC50 KIT from the ARC IP Networks team.

Last reviewed October 2026.

Up to 800 lumens at 4000K, dimmable, and triggered by motion or controlled in the app.

Yes. The kit includes a Tapo A201 solar panel, bracket and solar extension cable. One panel connects to one camera.

TP-Link quotes as long as 140 days on one charge. That figure assumes 300 seconds of use per day in Tapo's lab; heavier use shortens it.

24/7 continuous capture takes images at set intervals, from every second up to every 60 seconds, and switches to standard recording when an object is detected.

TP-Link Australia uses Tapo C615F KIT images and copy for the TC50 KIT; the C615F KIT is its international version.

Yes, person, pet and vehicle detection is offered free. Tapo Care is needed for cloud storage and snapshot or clip notifications.

Its Type-C input accepts 5 V 2 A. A USB charging cable is in the box, but you will need your own power adapter.

Yes. TP-Link gives an IP65 rating to the camera and the panel alike, with camera operation from -20 °C to 45 °C.
