The TP-Link TC47 is a Tapo outdoor dual lens pan/tilt security camera. A fixed 2.53 mm ultra-wide lens covers 165.1° diagonally while a 6 mm telephoto on a motorised pan/tilt head follows what the wide lens detects, both in 2K 2304 x 1296. It connects by 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 6 or a 10/100 Ethernet port, sees to 29.9 m with IR, has colour night vision, an IP66 rating and AI person, pet and vehicle alerts without subscription fees.

TC47 overview

TP-Link Australia sells the TC47 as an outdoor dual lens pan/tilt security camera summed up as wide view, sharp zoom and full protection. It carries two 2K 3MP lenses that each record 2304 x 1296 at 15 fps. The top lens is a fixed 2.53 mm F1.6 ultra-wide with a 165.1° diagonal, 137.6° horizontal and 73.0° vertical view, and the bottom lens is a 6 mm F1.6 telephoto (66.5° diagonal) on an automatic pan and tilt mechanism. A 1/2.8-inch progressive scan CMOS sensor is listed, with 3DNR and WDR enhancement.

The wide lens is fixed in operation, but at installation it can be turned manually through 270° of pan and set between -30° and -10° of tilt for the best angle. The telephoto handles the moving work: with synchronised smart tracking it pivots to lock onto motion, people or pets picked up by the fixed lens. One-tap smart focus points it at any spot you tap in the wide view, although TP-Link notes that a manual zoom-in is needed to enlarge the image during live view. The 6 mm lens is quoted at 3x the clarity of a standard lens and offers 10.8x digital zoom.

Patrol mode moves the telephoto automatically between up to 8 preset viewing points at set times. AI detection covers motion, people, pets and vehicles at no extra subscription fee, and the specification table also lists line-crossing detection and camera tampering. Activity zones apply only to motion, person, pet and vehicle detection, and privacy zones block recording in sensitive areas. After dark you can run full-colour with the integrated spotlights, black-and-white infrared from 850 nm LEDs rated to 99 ft (29.9 m), or a smart mode that changes to colour when motion appears.

Alongside Wi-Fi, the TC47 has an RJ45 10/100 Ethernet port, which TP-Link suggests for areas where Wi-Fi is weak. The wireless side is IEEE 802.11b/g/n/ax on 2.4 GHz with dual antennas and WPA3 among its security modes. It supports RTSP and ONVIF and works with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Samsung SmartThings, including live view on an Echo Show or Chromecast.

The housing is IP66 rated and operates from -30 °C to 60 °C. Power is a 12 V 1 A DC adapter with a 5.5 x 2.1 mm connector and 3 m cord; typical draw is 5.3 W and maximum 11.2 W. TP-Link's specification table lists wall, eave and pole mounting (pole loop sold separately), and the overview also mentions a ceiling. Recordings go to a microSD card of up to 512 GB (purchased separately) or Tapo Care cloud storage by subscription, and a 99 dB siren is built in. The camera is 114.57 x 159.55 x 152.1 mm and weighs 491 g.
