The TP-Link TC41 is a Tapo outdoor pan/tilt security Wi-Fi camera with a 2K image of 2304 x 1296 pixels, more detail than a traditional 1080p frame. It has two built-in spotlights for full-colour night vision, IR rated to 98 ft (29.9 m), person, motion and tamper detection, and a 340° mechanical pan for 360° coverage. It is IP65 rated and records to a microSD card of up to 512 GB (purchased separately) or to Tapo Care cloud storage with a subscription.

TC41 overview

TP-Link Australia sells the TC41 (hardware version V2 on the current AU page) as an outdoor pan/tilt security Wi-Fi camera offering all-round protection with vivid colours. Its maximum resolution is 2304 x 1296, which TP-Link compares with a traditional 1920 x 1080 frame to show the extra detail. The 1/2.8-inch progressive scan CMOS sensor works with a 3.9 mm F2.0 lens giving a 97.23° diagonal, 82.3° horizontal and 45.31° vertical view. Video is H.264 at 15 fps, and advanced exposure algorithms correct overexposed areas in real time alongside 3DNR and WDR.

A 340° mechanical pan range provides 360° pan coverage. For tilt, the specification table shows 90° of mechanical travel and 135° of tilt coverage, while the product summary says the camera has a 130° vertical view range. TC41 tracks motion with high-speed rotation, and you can assign points for it to patrol for dynamic monitoring of several vital areas from one mounting position.

Two built-in spotlights reveal full-colour images after dark, and TP-Link says the colour night vision captures detail up to 30 metres away; the IR LEDs are specified at 850 nm and 98 ft (29.9 m). With smart mode, the live view changes to colour once a person has been detected. The same spotlights are part of a customisable sound and light alarm, where you record your own audio, adjust brightness and fire the integrated 90 dB siren (measured at 10 cm) to deter unwelcome visitors.

For alerts, the TC41 adds tamper detection to motion and person detection, and activity zones let you choose which areas raise a notification; TP-Link describes the detection as free. A snapshot in the notification needs Tapo Care services. Local recording uses a microSD card of up to 512 GB (purchased separately), which TP-Link estimates at 840 hours, about 35 days, of 2K footage. Tapo Care cloud storage is offered on subscription after a free trial and brings 30-day video clip history.

The camera is IP65 rated against jets of water and dust and operates from -30 °C to 60 °C. It installs on a wall, eave or pole, with loops for pole mounting purchased separately, and a physical privacy mode hides the lens inside the housing. Power comes from a 9 V DC adapter (9 V, 0.85 A output). Connectivity is 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi with RTSP and ONVIF support, and it works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Dimensions are 123.8 x 123 x 90 mm.
