The TP-Link TL-SG116P is a 16-port gigabit unmanaged desktop switch with PoE+ on all 16 ports. The ports are 802.3af/at compliant with a 120 W PoE power supply, and three buttons enable Extend Mode (ports 1 to 4, up to 250 m), Priority Mode (ports 1 to 4) and Isolation Mode, with PoE Auto Recovery on every port, 32 Gbps switching, QoS and IGMP snooping, in a fanless case.

TL-SG116P overview

The TL-SG116P is TP-Link's 16-Port Gigabit Desktop Switch with 16-Port PoE+. Every one of its sixteen 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 ports supports PoE+ to the IEEE 802.3af/at standard, so any port can power a compliant device, and the switch is listed as compatible with 802.3af/at compliant powered devices. The total PoE power supply is 120 W, delivered by an external power adapter rated 53.5 V DC / 2.43 A. Ports support auto-negotiation and auto MDI/MDIX.

Rather than a management interface, the TL-SG116P uses three physical mode buttons. Extend Mode applies to ports 1 to 4 and provides up to 250 m of PoE power supply and data transmission. Priority Mode applies to ports 1 to 4. Isolation Mode applies to ports 1 to 7 and 8 to 14. PoE Auto Recovery is available on ports 1 to 16. Other advanced features include MAC address auto-learning and auto-aging, IEEE 802.3x flow control, 802.1p/DSCP QoS and IGMP snooping, all without configuration.

Performance figures are 32 Gbps switching capacity, a 23.8 Mpps packet forwarding rate and an 8K MAC address table. Power figures depend on load and mains voltage: 11.72 W (220 V/50 Hz) or 11.56 W (110 V/60 Hz) with no powered device connected, and 142.51 W (220 V/50 Hz) or 144.28 W (110 V/60 Hz) with 120 W of powered devices connected. Maximum heat dissipation is 39.85 BTU/h with no PDs and 484.53 BTU/h with 120 W of PDs at 220 V/50 Hz.

The TL-SG116P is fanless and measures 286 x 111.7 x 25.4 mm, a slim desktop format. Operating temperature is 0 to 40 °C and storage -40 to 70 °C, with 10 to 90% RH non-condensing humidity in operation. The package contains the TL-SG116P, the power adapter and an installation guide. Note that this is an unmanaged switch: there are no VLAN or web management features, and 120 W is shared across all 16 PoE ports, so check the combined draw of the devices you plan to connect.
