The TP-Link TL-SG1024D is a 24-port gigabit unmanaged desktop/rackmount switch. All 24 RJ45 ports run at 10/100/1000 Mbps with auto MDI/MDIX, giving 48 Gbps switching capacity and 35.7 Mpps forwarding with 10 KB jumbo frames. It is plug and play with no configuration, adds Isolation Mode on ports 1 to 22 and loop prevention on all 24 ports, and is fanless.

TL-SG1024D overview

The TL-SG1024D is TP-Link's 24-Port Gigabit Desktop/Rackmount Switch, an unmanaged switch intended as a straightforward, standard upgrade of an older network to 1000 Mbps. All 24 ports are gigabit RJ45 ports that are also compatible with 10 Mbps and 100 Mbps Ethernet devices. Every port supports auto-negotiation and auto MDI/MDIX, so there is no need to worry about cable type and no configuration is required: you plug it in and it works.

Performance figures are 48 Gbps switching capacity, a 35.7 Mpps packet forwarding rate and an 8K MAC address table. TP-Link describes the architecture as non-blocking, forwarding and filtering packets at full wire speed, and 10 KB jumbo frames improve the performance of large file transfers. IEEE 802.3x flow control is supported for full duplex. Transmission is store-and-forward.

Although it is unmanaged, the current TL-SG1024D lists two advanced features. Isolation Mode is available on ports 1 to 22, which is useful where connected devices should not talk to each other but should still reach the remaining uplink ports. Loop prevention covers all 24 ports and helps protect the network from cabling loops. TP-Link green technology adjusts power consumption according to link status, and the switch complies with the EU RoHS directive. Maximum power consumption is 13.62 W at 220 V/50 Hz, with 46.44 BTU/h heat dissipation.

The switch is fanless for silent operation and measures 294 x 180 x 44 mm. The package includes rackmount kits and rubber feet, so it can be fitted in a rack or placed on a desk, along with the power cord and installation guide; power is 100-240 V AC at 50/60 Hz. It is rated for 0 to 40 °C operation and -40 to 70 °C storage, 10 to 90% non-condensing humidity, and is FCC and CE certified. There is no physical security lock.
