The TP-Link TL-SG1024 is a 24-port gigabit rackmount switch with 24 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 ports, 48 Gbps switching capacity and a 35.7 Mpps forwarding rate. It adds Isolation Mode on ports 1 to 22, loop prevention on all ports, 10 KB jumbo frames and an 8K MAC table, runs fanless and takes 100-240 VAC directly, with rackmount kits included.

TL-SG1024 overview

The TL-SG1024 is TP-Link's 24-port gigabit rackmount switch. It has 24 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 ports, each supporting auto-negotiation and auto MDI/MDIX, in a 440 x 140 x 44 mm rack-mountable case; rackmount kits and rubber feet are both included. Supported standards are IEEE 802.3i, 802.3u, 802.3ab and 802.3x. Gigabit and Fast Ethernet links run over UTP Cat5, Cat5e or better cable up to 100 m, and 10BASE-T over Cat3, 4 or 5 up to 100 m.

Performance figures from TP-Link are 48 Gbps of switching capacity, a 35.7 Mpps packet forwarding rate and an 8K MAC address table, with store-and-forward transmission and 10 KB jumbo frames. 802.1p/DSCP QoS is supported, with TP-Link's condition that it applies only to V11 and later hardware versions, so check the hardware version if you rely on traffic prioritisation. Green technology is also listed. Maximum power consumption is 13.62 W, with maximum heat dissipation of 46.44 BTU/h.

TP-Link lists two advanced features. Isolation Mode is available on ports 1 to 22, and loop prevention covers all 24 ports. The switch is fanless, has a physical security lock and runs from 100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz, with a power cord in the box. It is rated for operation from 0 °C to 40 °C at 10% to 90% non-condensing humidity, and for storage from -40 °C to 70 °C, and carries FCC and CE certification.

If you are choosing between TP-Link's gigabit rackmount switches, the comparison below sets the TL-SG1024 beside the 16-port TL-SG1016 using TP-Link's published specifications for each. Both are fanless 440 x 140 x 44 mm rackmount units with 10 KB jumbo frames, an 8K MAC table, loop prevention on every port and 100-240 VAC power; the TL-SG1024 adds eight more ports, 48 Gbps of switching capacity against 32 Gbps, and Isolation Mode across 22 ports rather than 14. In the box are the 24-Port Gigabit Rackmount Switch, a power cord, an installation guide, rackmount kits and rubber feet. ARC IP Networks supplies the TL-SG1024 from Australian stock with the full manufacturer's warranty.
