The TP-Link TL-SG1016D is a 16-port gigabit desktop/rackmount switch. All sixteen 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 ports auto-negotiate and auto-sense MDI/MDIX; it lists 32 Gbps switching, 23.8 Mpps forwarding, an 8K MAC table and 10 KB jumbo frames, plus Isolation Mode on ports 1-14 and Loop Prevention on ports 1-16. Power is internal (100-240 VAC) and it is fanless.

TL-SG1016D overview

The TL-SG1016D is TP-Link's 16-Port Gigabit Desktop/Rackmount Switch. Every one of its sixteen RJ45 ports runs at 10, 100 or 1000 Mbps, with auto-negotiation to match the attached device and auto MDI/MDIX on every port. The AU product page shows hardware version V10. TP-Link lists cabling requirements of UTP category 3, 4 or 5 for 10BASE-T and category 5, 5e or above for 100BASE-TX and 1000BASE-T, each to a maximum of 100 m.

Two listed advanced features set it apart from a bare unmanaged switch. Isolation Mode applies to ports 1 to 14, and Loop Prevention covers all sixteen ports, ports 1 to 16. Standards listed are IEEE 802.3i, 802.3u, 802.3ab and 802.3x flow control, and TP-Link also lists Green Technology among its performance features.

Published performance figures are 32 Gbps switching capacity, a 23.8 Mpps packet forwarding rate, an 8K MAC address table and 10 KB jumbo frames, with store-and-forward transmission.

The chassis measures 294 x 180 x 44 mm. Rackmount kits and rubber feet are both in the box, together with the power cord and installation guide, so the same unit can go on a shelf or into a rack. Power comes from an internal 100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz supply rather than an external adapter. TP-Link lists the switch as fanless, with a maximum consumption of 9.95 W and 33.93 BTU/h heat dissipation at 220 V/50 Hz. No physical security lock is listed.

It operates from 0 to 40 °C and stores from -40 to 70 °C, with 10 to 90% operating and 5 to 90% storage humidity, non-condensing. Certifications listed are FCC and CE.
