The TP-Link TL-SG1005P-PD is a 5-port Gigabit PoE+ switch with no power adapter: it is powered through port 5 from an upstream PoE switch or injector (802.3af/at/bt Type 3/Type 4) and passes power on to four 802.3af/at PoE+ out ports. The PoE budget depends on the input: 66 W from 802.3bt Type 4 (90 W), 47 W from Type 3 (60 W), 21 W from 802.3at and 9 W from 802.3af. Extend Mode reaches 250 m on ports 1-2.

The TP-Link TL-SG1005P-PD is a 5-port Gigabit desktop PoE+ switch that is powered only by PoE. Port 5 is a PoE In port accepting 802.3af/at/bt Type 3 or Type 4, and ports 1-4 output 802.3af/at PoE+ with a budget of up to 66 W from a 90 W 802.3bt source. It adds 250 m Extend Mode, PoE Auto Recovery and a -30 to 70 °C operating range.

TL-SG1005P-PD overview

The TL-SG1005P-PD is a 5-port Gigabit desktop PoE+ switch with one PoE++ In port and four PoE+ Out ports. Its key difference from the TL-SG1005P and TL-SG1005LP is that it has no power adapter at all: TP-Link lists its power supply as only powered by PoE device. Port 5 is the PoE In port, compliant with 802.3af/at/bt Type 3 and bt Type 4, and also carries the uplink data. Ports 1 to 4 are PoE Out ports compliant with 802.3af/at. All five RJ45 ports run at 10/100/1000 Mbps with auto-negotiation and auto-MDI/MDIX. The AU product page shows hardware version 1.

Because the switch is powered from upstream, the PoE power it can pass on depends on what feeds port 5. TP-Link lists the PoE power budget as 66 W when powered by 802.3bt Type 4 (90 W), 47 W when powered by 802.3bt Type 3 (60 W), 21 W when powered by 802.3at (30 W) and 9 W when powered by 802.3af (15.4 W). To get the full 66 W for downstream cameras or access points, feed it from a 90 W 802.3bt source. Maximum power consumption is 2.68 W with a 90 W PoE input and no PD connected, and 68.59 W with a 90 W input and 66 W of PDs connected; maximum heat dissipation is 9.112 and 233.206 BTU/h respectively.

That makes the TL-SG1005P-PD useful wherever a single cable reaches a location with no power point, such as a ceiling space, a pole cabinet or the far end of a long corridor: one 802.3bt run in, and up to four PoE+ devices out. Its rated operating temperature of -30 to 70 degrees C (storage -40 to 70 degrees C, 10 to 90% RH operating humidity, non-condensing) is far wider than the 0 to 40 degrees C of the adapter-powered TL-SG1005LP, which suits plant rooms and enclosures that heat up or cool down.

TP-Link lists the same surveillance features as the TL-SG1005P. Extend Mode, set by a button, lets ports 1 and 2 deliver PoE power and data up to 250 m, and PoE Auto Recovery on ports 1 to 4 detects and reboots devices that fall offline. Other listed features are MAC address auto-learning and auto-aging, IEEE 802.3x flow control, 802.1p/DSCP QoS and IGMP snooping. Standards listed are IEEE 802.3i, 802.3u, 802.3ab, 802.3af, 802.3at, 802.3bt, 802.3x and 802.1p.

Switching capacity is 10 Gbps with a 7.44 Mpps forwarding rate, a 2K MAC address table and store-and-forward transmission. The switch is fanless and measures 158 x 101 x 25 mm (6.2 x 4.0 x 1.0 in), larger than the 99.8 mm-wide TL-SG1005P. It is CE and FCC certified. Because there is no adapter, the box contains just the TL-SG1005P-PD and an installation guide.

TL-SG1005P-PD compared

The TL-SG1005P-PD shares four 802.3af/at PoE+ out ports with the TL-SG1005P and TL-SG1005LP, but it is the only one of the three powered by PoE instead of an adapter, so its budget depends on the PoE source feeding port 5.

Last reviewed October 2026.

Only by PoE. Port 5 is a PoE In port that accepts 802.3af/at/bt Type 3 or Type 4 power from an upstream PoE switch or injector. There is no power adapter.

It depends on the input: 66 W from 802.3bt Type 4 (90 W), 47 W from 802.3bt Type 3 (60 W), 21 W from 802.3at (30 W) and 9 W from 802.3af (15.4 W).

Ports 1 to 4, compliant with 802.3af/at.

Yes, 802.3at is a supported input, but TP-Link lists only 21 W of PoE budget for downstream devices in that case.

Yes. Ports 1 and 2 can deliver PoE power and data up to 250 m with Extend Mode enabled.

TP-Link rates it for -30 to 70 °C operation and -40 to 70 °C storage.

The TL-SG1005P uses a 48 V adapter with a fixed 65 W budget and a 99.8 x 98 x 25 mm case; the TL-SG1005P-PD is PoE-powered, has up to 66 W from a 90 W source and measures 158 x 101 x 25 mm.

No. The box contains the TL-SG1005P-PD and an installation guide.
