The TP-Link TL-SF1009P is a 9-port 10/100 Mbps unmanaged desktop switch with eight 802.3af/at PoE+ ports. Each PoE port supplies up to 30 W within a 65 W total budget, and one-touch Extend Mode (up to 250 m), Priority Mode (ports 1-2) and Isolation Mode (ports 1-8) are built for IP surveillance. It has a durable metal casing, is fanless and wall mountable, and is plug and play.

TL-SF1009P overview

The TL-SF1009P is TP-Link's professional 9-port unmanaged switch with eight PoE+ ports, which TP-Link describes as plug and play, with PoE transmission for surveillance up to 250 m. It has nine 10/100 Mbps RJ45 ports with auto-negotiation and auto MDI/MDIX. Ports 1 to 8 are 802.3af/at PoE+, and TP-Link says compliance with the standard supports up to 30 W on each PoE port. The total 65 W PoE power budget for the eight ports opens up applications such as surveillance for offices, dormitories and small businesses, and TP-Link says it is fully compatible with IP cameras, access points, IP phones, computers, printers and more. With eight powered ports sharing 65 W, the budget averages about 8 W per port when all eight are loaded, so it suits eight low-draw cameras or a mix of fewer higher-draw devices. TP-Link notes that PoE budget calculations are based on laboratory testing; the actual PoE power budget is not guaranteed and will vary as a result of client limitations and environmental factors.

TP-Link says Priority Mode and Isolation Mode make surveillance smoother and safer. Priority Mode guarantees the quality of sensitive applications like video monitoring in critical business areas by giving ports 1 and 2 higher priority when the one-touch button is on. Isolation Mode is the feature that sets the TL-SF1009P apart from the TL-SF1006P and TL-SF1008P: with one click it divides traffic on ports 1 to 8 to avoid snooping and tampering, which TP-Link says isolates broadcast storms and improves LAN security and data transmission, while port 9 remains the uplink. Extend Mode is listed for ports 1 to 4 and ports 1 to 8, with up to 250 m PoE power supply and data transmission. TP-Link notes that the speed of the ports in Extend Mode downgrades to 10 Mbps, and the actual transmission distance may vary due to the power consumption of PoE-powered devices or the cable quality and type.

TP-Link's intelligent power management cuts the lower-priority port's power when total consumption exceeds 65 W, ensuring the high-priority ports stay powered and protecting the device from overload, and it automatically detects and provides the required power for PoE devices while protecting PoE and non-PoE equipment from damage. Switching capacity is 1.8 Gbps and the forwarding rate 1.3392 Mpps, with a 2K MAC address table, 2 KB jumbo frames, IEEE 802.3x flow control for full-duplex and backpressure for half-duplex, and store-and-forward transmission. The interior is protected by a high-quality metal casing that TP-Link says has passed an array of stringent reliability tests. It is fanless, wall mountable and has a physical security lock slot. Power consumption is 3.6 W with no PD connected and 77.08 W with 65 W of PDs connected; heat dissipation is 12.28 and 262.84 BTU/h. It measures 171 x 98 x 27 mm, operates from 0 to 40 degrees C and is FCC and CE certified. TP-Link's AU page shows hardware version V6.
