The TP-Link TL-SF1008P is an 8-port 10/100 Mbps unmanaged desktop switch with four PoE ports and a 66 W total PoE budget. It adds a PoE Auto Recovery button for ports 1-4 alongside Extend Mode and Priority Mode, uses a sturdy fanless metal casing with shielded RJ45 ports, and needs no configuration. TP-Link's spec table lists the PoE ports as 802.3af/at, while its highlights list 802.3af at up to 15.4 W per port.

TL-SF1008P overview

The TL-SF1008P is TP-Link's 8-port 10/100 Mbps desktop switch with 4-port PoE, the higher-budget alternative to the TL-SF1008LP in the same 171 x 98 x 27 mm footprint. It has eight 10/100 Mbps RJ45 ports with auto-negotiation and auto MDI/MDIX, four of which deliver data and power on one cable. TP-Link lists PoE power up to 66 W for all PoE ports, from a 53.5 V DC / 1.31 A adapter, compared with 41 W from a 0.81 A adapter on the TL-SF1008LP. TP-Link's AU page describes the PoE standard two ways: the specification table lists the four PoE ports as 802.3af/at PoE+, while the highlights say it works with IEEE 802.3af compliant PDs and supports up to 15.4 W for each PoE port. TP-Link's own title for the model is 8-Port 10/100Mbps Desktop Switch with 4-Port PoE, and the AU page shows hardware version V8.

Three front-panel buttons are listed. Extend Mode covers ports 1 to 4 for longer camera runs, Priority Mode covers ports 1 and 2, and a PoE Auto Recovery button covers ports 1 to 4. PoE Auto Recovery is the feature the TL-SF1008LP does not list. TP-Link describes intelligent power management on this model too: when total power consumption exceeds 66 W, it cuts the lower-priority port's power to ensure the high-priority port's supply and protect the device from power overload. MAC address auto-learning and auto-aging and store-and-forward transmission are listed, along with a 2K MAC address table and 2 KB jumbo frames.

Switching capacity is 1.6 Gbps and the packet forwarding rate 1.1904 Mpps. TP-Link describes a sturdy, compact metal casing with shielded RJ45 ports and a desktop design, and the fanless design ensures quiet operation. A physical security lock slot is also listed. Maximum power consumption is 2.27 W with no PD connected and 75.33 W with 66 W of PDs connected, with maximum heat dissipation of 7.74 BTU/h and 256.88 BTU/h. Cabling is UTP category 5 or 5e (or 100 ohm STP) up to 100 m for 100BASE-TX. It operates from 0 to 40 degrees C and stores from -40 to 70 degrees C, with 10 to 90% RH operating and 5 to 90% RH storage humidity, non-condensing, and is FCC and CE certified. Unlike the other models in this range, the box includes rubber feet with the TL-SF1008P, power adapter and installation guide.
