The TP-Link TL-SF1005P is a 5-port 10/100 Mbps desktop switch with four PoE ports in a sturdy metal case. TP-Link's AU specification table lists 802.3af/at PoE+ on ports 1-4 with a 67 W budget from a 53.5 V / 1.31 A adapter, while the highlights on the same page list 802.3af, 15.4 W per port and 58 W total. It has Extend Mode, Priority Mode and intelligent power management, is fanless and wall mountable, and needs no configuration.

TL-SF1005P overview

The TL-SF1005P is TP-Link's 5-port 10/100 Mbps desktop switch with 4-port PoE, the higher-budget sibling of the TL-SF1005LP. It has five 10/100 Mbps RJ45 ports with auto-negotiation and auto MDI/MDIX; ports 1 to 4 carry data and power on one cable each. TP-Link's AU page is not consistent on the PoE rating, so both sets of figures are given here. The specification table lists the four PoE ports as 10/100 Mbps 802.3af/at PoE+ ports with a 67 W PoE power supply, and maximum power consumption of 74 W with 67 W of PDs connected. The highlights and overview on the same page, for hardware version V5.40, list 802.3af compliant PDs, up to 15.4 W for each PoE port and up to 58 W for all PoE ports, and the intelligent power management text uses the 58 W figure. When planning a load, check the label on the unit; the lower 58 W and 15.4 W per port figures are the conservative basis.

Compared with the TL-SF1005LP, which has a 41 W budget from a 0.81 A adapter, the TL-SF1005P uses a 53.5 V DC / 1.31 A adapter and a higher budget, and it adds a sturdy metal casing. TP-Link describes intelligent power management: when total power consumption exceeds the budget, it cuts power to the lower-priority port to ensure the high-priority port's supply and protect the device from power overload. Extend Mode on ports 1 to 4 and Priority Mode on ports 1 and 2 are listed as front-panel buttons. Extend Mode supports long camera runs at a reduced speed of 10 Mbps, and Priority Mode keeps the first two ports' devices running first. MAC address auto-learning and auto-aging, IEEE 802.3x flow control for full-duplex and backpressure for half-duplex, and store-and-forward transmission are also listed.

Switching capacity is 1 Gbps, the packet forwarding rate 0.744 Mpps, the MAC address table 2K and jumbo frames 2 KB. TP-Link describes the sturdy, compact metal casing with shielded RJ45 ports and a desktop or wall-mounting design, and the fanless design ensures quiet operation; a physical security lock slot is listed. Power consumption is 1.9 W with no PD connected, and heat dissipation 6.48 BTU/h idle and 252.34 BTU/h with 67 W of PDs connected. It measures 99.8 x 98 x 25 mm (3.9 x 3.9 x 1.0 in), operates from 0 to 40 degrees C and stores from -40 to 70 degrees C, with 10 to 90% RH operating and 5 to 90% RH storage humidity, non-condensing. It is FCC and CE certified, and the package contains the TL-SF1005P, the power adapter and an installation guide.

A 5-port 10/100 Mbps unmanaged desktop switch with four PoE ports, a sturdy metal casing and desktop or wall mounting.

TP-Link's AU specification table lists 67 W (802.3af/at), while the highlights on the same page list up to 58 W for all PoE ports and 15.4 W per port. Plan to the lower figure unless your unit's label states otherwise.

The specification table lists 802.3af/at PoE+ ports; the highlights say it works with IEEE 802.3af compliant PDs. TP-Link's own title for it is 5-Port 10/100Mbps Desktop Switch with 4-Port PoE.

The TL-SF1005LP has a 41 W budget and a 0.81 A adapter. The TL-SF1005P has a higher budget, a 1.31 A adapter and a metal casing.

Intelligent power management cuts the lower-priority port's power to keep high-priority ports powered and protect the switch from overload.

It extends PoE and data reach on ports 1-4 for long camera runs, with the port speed reduced to 10 Mbps.

Yes. TP-Link describes a desktop or wall-mounting design.

Yes, so it runs quietly.
