The TP-Link POE5460X is an Omada 54 V 60 W 10G passive PoE adapter. It supplies 54 V at 1.11 A, up to 60 W, through a 10 Gbps-capable power plus data out port, with a matching 10 Gbps data in port, so a multi-gig device that takes 54 V passive PoE gets power and up to 10G data on one cable. It has a wall-mount design and is plug and play.

POE5460X overview

The POE5460X is TP-Link's Omada 10G passive PoE adapter, rated 54 V at 60 W. TP-Link says it can be used to simultaneously supply power and transmit data to a passive PoE device. Its output is listed as 54 V / 1.11 A, which gives the maximum power of up to 60 W quoted in the datasheet. Passive PoE applies a fixed voltage without negotiation, so the POE5460X is for devices specified for 54 V passive PoE. If the device you are powering is an IEEE 802.3af/at/bt powered device, TP-Link's POE370S is the standards-based 60 W, 10G injector to use instead.

The difference from TP-Link's earlier passive adapters is the data rate. The POE2412G and POE4818G are Gigabit adapters at 24 V and 48 V; the POE5460X has two multi-gig RJ45 ports that support 10 Gbps, 5 Gbps, 2.5 Gbps, 1 Gbps, 100 Mbps and 10 Mbps. One is the DATA IN port, which connects to your switch, and the other is the PWR+DATA OUT port (maximum 60 W), which connects to the device. Listed standards are IEEE 802.3i, 802.3u, 802.3ab, 802.3an and 802.3bz. TP-Link's cabling guidance is UTP of Cat. 5 or above up to 100 m for 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX, UTP of Cat. 5e or above up to 100 m for 1000BASE-T, 2.5GBASE-T and 5GBASE-T, and either UTP of Cat. 6 or above up to 50 m or STP of Cat. 6a or above up to 90 m for 10GBASE-T.

TP-Link highlights that the adapter can auto-determine the necessary power requirements, has a convenient wall-mount design and is plug and play with no configuration required. Power comes from an AC socket on the unit, and a power cord is included. A PWR LED shows status. The housing measures 125 x 59.4 x 36.8 mm (4.92 x 2.34 x 1.45 in). Operating temperature is -5 to 40 degrees C (23 to 104 degrees F), storage -40 to 70 degrees C, operating humidity 10 to 90% and storage humidity 5 to 90%, non-condensing. Certifications are CE, FCC, BSMI and KC. In the box are the POE5460X, a power cord and an installation guide.
