The TP-Link TL-PD30G-M2 is a 2.5G PoE+ splitter that takes power and data from an IEEE 802.3af/at compliant PoE+ switch or injector and outputs DC power to a non-PoE device. It has a 2.5Gbps RJ45 power+data in port, a 2.5Gbps RJ45 LAN out port and a selectable 12V, 9V or 5V DC output at up to 2A. Power is delivered up to 100 m, and the 2.5G speeds work over existing Cat5e, Cat6 and Cat6a cabling. It suits devices such as access points and routers, and is plug and play with no configuration required. Supplied by ARC IP Networks from Australian stock with the full manufacturer's warranty.

The TP-Link TL-PD30G-M2 is a 2.5G PoE+ splitter that takes power from an IEEE 802.3af/at PoE switch or injector and delivers a selectable 5, 9 or 12 VDC output to an Ethernet-enabled device, up to 24 W at 12 V, while passing 10M/100M/1000M/2.5 Gbps data. It is plug and play, with short-circuit protection and auto disconnection for voltage and current faults.

TL-PD30G-M2 overview

The TL-PD30G-M2 is a 2.5G PoE+ splitter. It works with IEEE 802.3af/at compliant PoE+ switches or injectors and splits the incoming PoE into separate data and DC power, delivering an optional 12 V, 9 V or 5 V DC output to a variety of Ethernet-enabled devices. TP-Link highlights the cost saving of needing no power cabling for the Ethernet network device, with power delivered up to 100 m over the network cable. An advanced auto-sensing algorithm lets the splitter take power from an 802.3af/at PSE, and it supports power detection and classification.

The data path runs at up to 2.5 Gbps. Both the RJ45 POWER+DATA IN port and the RJ45 LAN OUT port auto-negotiate 10M/100M/1000M/2.5 Gbps, which TP-Link says delivers 2.5 times faster network performance than traditional gigabit switches. TP-Link adds that it works with Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a and above cables without upgrading your cabling; its network media specification lists 2.5GBASE-T and 1000BASE-T over UTP Cat5e or Cat6 cable up to 100 m. Supported standards are IEEE 802.3i, 802.3u, 802.3ab, 802.3bz, 802.3af and 802.3at.

The DC output is adjustable with a slide switch to 5 VDC, 9 VDC or 12 VDC, each at up to 2 A. TP-Link rates the output at up to 10 W at 5 VDC, 18 W at 9 VDC or 24 W at 12 VDC. Protection features include short-circuit protection and automatic disconnection for over-voltage, under-voltage or over-current conditions, which TP-Link describes as high safety. A single LED shows the power status: on when the splitter is connected to a PSE correctly, off when no PSE is connected. TP-Link describes installation as plug and play, with no configuration required.

The splitter measures 80.8 x 54 x 24 mm. It is rated for operation from -5 °C to 45 °C at 10% to 90% RH non-condensing, and for storage from -40 °C to 70 °C, and carries FCC and CE certification, with RoHS also listed in the datasheet. TP-Link lists the package contents as the TL-PD30G-M2, a power cord and an installation guide. ARC IP Networks supplies the TL-PD30G-M2 from Australian stock with the full manufacturer's warranty.
