The TP-Link VIGI NVR1008H-8P is an 8-channel network video recorder with eight built-in 10/100 Mbps PoE+ ports sharing a 53 W PoE budget. It records up to 8MP with 80 Mbps incoming bandwidth, takes one SATA hard drive of up to 16 TB (not included), outputs 4K over HDMI alongside VGA, and supports ONVIF Profile S/T cameras.

VIGI NVR1008H-8P overview

The VIGI NVR1008H-8P adds eight PoE+ ports to TP-Link's 8-channel VIGI recorder, so each camera can be connected and powered from the recorder with one cable. The ports are RJ-45 10/100 Mbps, compliant with 802.3at and 802.3af, and TP-Link lists 53 W available across all PoE+ ports with up to 30 W on any one port. TP-Link notes the PoE budget is based on laboratory testing, is not guaranteed and will vary with client limitations and environmental factors. That 53 W budget is the main difference from the NVR1008H-8MP, which lists 113 W in the same chassis; the 8P runs from a 53.5 V DC 1.31 A supply.

The recorder accepts eight IP channels with 80 Mbps of incoming and 60 Mbps of outgoing bandwidth, and records from 8MP down to QCIF. Decoding capability is listed as two channels at 8MP, four at 4MP or eight at 2MP at 25 fps, and four at 3MP or two at 5MP at 30 fps. Eight channels can play back synchronously; TP-Link notes fewer than eight, or none, may play if the total resolution exceeds 16MP. Live view supports one, four, six or eight window layouts, HDMI reaches 3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz, and VGA reaches 1920 x 1080 at 60 Hz, with both outputs running simultaneously.

Storage is one SATA interface supporting a hard drive of up to 16 TB, which is more than the 10 TB listed for the non-PoE NVR1008H; TP-Link states the HDD is not included. Auto Initialize sets up basic IPC and hard disk parameters in a single click. Recording is manual, scheduled or motion triggered, with instant, regular, tag and event playback, regular and video clip backup, and playback tools including frame-by-frame, digital zoom, clip export and recording lock. Compression covers H.265+, H.265, H.264+ and H.264.

The chassis measures 294 x 180 x 44 mm and weighs 1.12 kg net, and the package includes mounting brackets and rubber feet, HDD screws, a mouse, power adapter and quick installation guide. There is one 10/100 Mbps uplink port, two USB 2.0 ports and 1-channel RCA audio in and out. Interoperability is ONVIF Profile S/T and CGI. Alarm features, which require a camera, include line-crossing, intrusion, loitering, object abandoned or removed, vehicle and human detection, abnormal sound detection and Smart Frame. Maximum power consumption is 2.38 W without a disk and 12.94 W with one.
