The TP-Link M7000 is a pocket 4G LTE Mobile Wi-Fi that takes a nano SIM and shares the connection with up to 10 devices over 300 Mbps 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. TP-Link lists LTE speeds of up to 150 Mbps download and 50 Mbps upload, FDD and TDD LTE bands plus 3G fallback, a rechargeable battery, USB-C power and management through the tpMiFi app.

M7000 overview

The M7000 is TP-Link's 4G LTE Mobile Wi-Fi with a nano SIM slot. It creates a personal Wi-Fi network from a mobile data service, and TP-Link's summary for the model is short: share internet access with friends across up to 10 devices at once, run on a rechargeable battery, connect to both FDD and TDD LTE networks, and manage everything from the tpMiFi app. The Australian product page lists hardware versions V1 and V3.20.

TP-Link rates the mobile connection at up to 150 Mbps download and 50 Mbps upload. Supported 4G bands are FDD-LTE B1, B3, B5, B7, B8, B20 and B28 (2100, 1800, 850, 2600, 900, 800 and 750 MHz) and TDD-LTE B38, B40 and B41 (2600, 2300 and 2500 MHz). For 3G it lists DC-HSPA+, HSPA+, HSPA and UMTS on B1, B5 and B8 (2100, 850 and 900 MHz). TP-Link says FDD and TDD support makes it compatible with networks in most countries and regions, but it is worth checking the bands your SIM provider uses against this list before you buy. Mobile speeds also depend on the network, signal and your plan.

The Wi-Fi side is IEEE 802.11b/g/n on 2.4 GHz with signal rates of up to 300 Mbps and transmission power under 20 dBm. Security options are WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK, wireless MAC filtering and SSID broadcast on or off, and the built-in DHCP server keeps a client list. TP-Link's footnote applies: maximum wireless signal rates are physical rates from the IEEE 802.11 standard, and actual throughput, coverage and the number of connected devices are not guaranteed and vary with network conditions, client limitations and the environment.

Power comes from an internal rechargeable battery with an external 5 V / 1 A input over the USB-C port. TP-Link's summary quotes a 2000 mAh battery for 8 hours of usage, while the specification table and package list name a 2150 mAh battery (TBL-65A2150); TP-Link adds that actual battery time varies with the user environment. Three LEDs show Wi-Fi, internet connection and battery status, and there are power and reset buttons. Antennas are internal and the unit measures 94 x 56.7 x 19.8 mm.

For setup and control, the tpMiFi app is TP-Link's recommended tool, and a web interface is also available over HTTP or HTTPS. Network services enabled by default are the web server (ports 80/443), DNS (port 53) and DHCP/DHCPv6 (ports 67/547). RNDIS is supported for Windows XP through Windows 11, and TP-Link lists Windows, Mac OS, Android, iOS and Windows Phone among compatible systems. The operating range is 0 to 35 °C. In the box are the M7000, a 0.4 m cable, the 2150 mAh battery and a quick installation guide; the package list calls it a Micro USB cable, although the specification lists a USB-C power port.
