The TP-Link ES210X-M2 is an Omada 8-port 2.5G easy managed switch with 2 x 10GE SFP+ slots. The "-M2" marks its multi-gig RJ45 ports: all eight run at up to 2.5 Gbps (100 Mbps/1 Gbps/2.5 Gbps), while the two SFP+ slots provide 10 Gbps fibre uplinks. Switching capacity is 80 Gbps with a 59.52 Mpps forwarding rate, 16K MAC table and 640 KB packet buffer. It offers 802.1Q VLAN, port isolation, IGMP snooping, loop prevention and QoS, runs silently with no fan, and is managed through its web GUI or an Omada controller, including the Omada app and zero-touch provisioning with the Omada Cloud-Based Controller.

The TP-Link ES210X-M2 is an Omada 8-port 2.5GBASE-T easy managed switch with two 10 Gbps SFP+ slots. Its eight RJ45 ports run at 100 Mbps, 1 Gbps or 2.5 Gbps, giving 80 Gbps of switching capacity at 59.52 Mpps. It is fanless, has a metal case for desk or wall mounting, and can be managed standalone through its web interface or centrally with an Omada hardware, software or cloud-based controller.

ES210X-M2 overview

The ES210X-M2 is TP-Link's Omada 8-port 2.5GBASE-T easy managed switch with two 10GE SFP+ slots. The -M2 suffix identifies the multi-gig copper side: each of the eight RJ45 ports negotiates 100 Mbps, 1 Gbps or 2.5 Gbps with auto-MDI/MDIX, and the two SFP+ slots run at 10 Gbps for fibre uplinks to a core switch, gateway or NAS. TP-Link's datasheet lists port standards from IEEE 802.3u 100BASE-X and 802.3ab 1000BASE-T through 802.3bz 2.5GBASE-T, together with 802.3z 1000BASE-X, 802.3ae 10GBASE-SR/LR and 802.3aq 10GBASE-LRM for the fibre slots. Switching capacity is 80 Gbps, the packet forwarding rate is 59.52 Mpps, the MAC address table holds 16K entries, the packet buffer is 640 KB and jumbo frames up to 10 KB are supported, all with store-and-forward transmission and 64 Mbit of flash.

TP-Link describes the ES210X-M2 as easy to use: it supports plug-and-play for instant connectivity, with simple configuration for additional features when you need them. In standalone mode the web-based GUI (HTTP/HTTPS) gives you 802.1Q tag VLAN with up to 32 VLAN groups across the 4K VID range, MTU and port-based VLAN, port isolation, loopback detection for automatic loop prevention, and IGMP v1/v2/v3 snooping with fast leave and report suppression. Static link aggregation supports up to two aggregation groups of up to four ports each. Port mirroring covers one-to-one and many-to-one sessions on ingress, egress or both, and port statistics show mirror status and traffic counters. 802.3x flow control, 802.1ab LLDP and IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet are also listed, along with cable diagnostics and a DHCP client.

Quality of Service is listed as port-based, 802.1p and DSCP QoS with eight priority queues, a priority schedule mode, queue weight configuration, port-based rate limiting and storm control in kbps or pps for broadcast, multicast and unknown-unicast traffic. TP-Link's footnote says port-based/802.1p/DSCP QoS is supported in Standalone Mode, while QoS rules are supported in Controller mode; the datasheet also lists ONVIF support in Controller mode only. Under an Omada controller the switch joins Omada SDN with automatic device discovery, batch configuration, batch firmware upgrading and unified configuration. Centralised management works with the Omada Hardware Controller, Software Controller or Cloud-Based Controller, including cloud access and the Omada app, and zero-touch provisioning requires the Omada Cloud-Based Controller (Omada Cloud Standard or Omada Cloud Essentials).

Physically the ES210X-M2 measures 209 x 126 x 26 mm (8.2 x 5.0 x 1.0 in) and weighs 0.71 kg net. It is fanless for silent operation, has a durable metal casing with a physical security lock slot, and can sit on a desk or be wall mounted. Power comes from an external AC/DC adapter (100-240 V AC input, 12 V DC / 1.5 A output); TP-Link lists standby consumption of 1.98 W, maximum consumption of 8.38 W and maximum heat dissipation of 28.59 BTU/hr at 110 V/60 Hz, with an MTBF of 1,424,624 hours at 25 degrees C. Surge protection is rated at 6 kV common mode on the Ethernet ports and 2 kV differential mode on the power input, with ESD protection of 8 kV air and 4 kV contact. The switch is rated for -5 to 40 degrees C operation and -40 to 70 degrees C storage, at 10 to 90% RH operating and 5 to 90% RH storage humidity, non-condensing, and carries CE and FCC certification. The box contains the switch, power adapter, rubber feet and an installation guide.
