The TP-Link ER603WP-4G-Outdoor is an Omada 4G Cat4 N300 outdoor PoE gateway built for remote surveillance. A Nano SIM slot gives 4G LTE at up to 150 Mbps down and 50 Mbps up, three Gigabit WAN/LAN ports include one PoE-in and two PoE-out ports to power IP cameras, and a 300 Mbps 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi radio covers local setup. The IP55 enclosure has 4 kV surge protection, runs from PoE, passive PoE or 12 V DC, and is managed through Omada SDN and the cloud.

ER603WP-4G-Outdoor overview

The ER603WP-4G-Outdoor is TP-Link's Omada 4G Cat4 N300 Outdoor PoE Gateway. TP-Link describes it as a multi-functional 4G gateway specifically engineered for remote surveillance systems: it combines 4G LTE internet access, PoE output to power devices such as cameras, and local Wi-Fi for cable-free setup in a single weatherproof unit. TP-Link names street corners, farms, construction sites and even mobile vehicles as places it can extend monitoring to, and says the unified design simplifies installation and reduces hardware costs, with centralised cloud management giving remote control and visibility over the whole network.

Cellular connectivity comes from one Nano SIM slot with a Category 4 LTE modem rated at 150 Mbps downlink and 50 Mbps uplink, through two external LTE antennas. The band list on TP-Link's AU product page and datasheet is labelled LTE Band of EU: 4G LTE-FDD B1, B3, B5, B7, B8, B20 and B28 (2100, 1800, 850, 2600, 900, 800 and 700 MHz), 4G LTE-TDD B38, B40 and B41, and 3G HSPA+/WCDMA B1, B5 and B8. Check carrier band support before deployment. The gateway can also take a wired uplink on any of its Gigabit ports, balance load between 4G and Ethernet WAN with intelligent load balance and application optimised routing, and fail over automatically to 4G with link backup and online detection. SMS send and receive is supported.

The three 10/100/1000 Mbps WAN/LAN ports are where this model differs from a standard 4G router. Port 1 accepts passive, 802.3af, 802.3at or 802.3bt PoE in, and ports 2 and 3 supply passive, 802.3af or 802.3at PoE out. TP-Link's datasheet lists the PoE-out budget by input: 52 W when powered by 802.3bt Type 4 (90 W), 34 W from 802.3bt Type 3 (60 W), 13 W from 802.3at (30 W) and 9 W from the provided passive PoE adapter, while its highlights note that the PoE-out feature requires 802.3bt PoE input. A 12 V / 1 A DC input is also available, which TP-Link says is compatible with solar power systems. Maximum power consumption is 10 W without PoE and 62 W with PoE.

For outdoor reliability the enclosure is IP55 rated against dust and heavy rain, with 4 kV surge (lightning) protection, and it operates from -30 to 60 degrees C with 5 to 95% non-condensing humidity. It measures 100.4 x 38.7 x 174.8 mm excluding antennas, weighs 0.420 kg including antennas, and mounts on a wall or pole with the kits supplied. MTBF is listed at 889,200 hours at 25 degrees C. The local Wi-Fi radio is 802.11b/g/n on 2.4 GHz at up to 300 Mbps from two internal antennas, with up to eight SSIDs, guest network, WPA/WPA2 Personal and Enterprise and SSID or client rate limits.

Routing performance is listed at 50,000 concurrent sessions and 2,028 new sessions per second, with static IP NAT throughput of 944.785 / 939.201 Mbps (upload/download). VPN support covers six IPsec tunnels (IKE v1/v2, AES up to 256-bit, measured at up to 195.445 Mbps with ESP-SHA256-AES256), OpenVPN with 18 tunnels, WireGuard (50.175 Mbps), L2TP and PPTP with six tunnels each, GRE in standalone mode and SD-WAN in controller mode. Security includes stateful and IP-based ACLs, national based ACL, DNSSEC, DoH and DoT, URL and web group filtering, flood defence and ARP inspection. It is managed by Omada hardware, software and cloud-based controllers and the Omada app, with zero-touch provisioning on the cloud-based controller, or standalone through its web interface and CLI. CE certification is listed. In the box are the gateway, mounting kits, a passive PoE adapter and a quick installation guide.

An Omada 4G Cat4 outdoor gateway with PoE-out, designed for remote surveillance. It combines a 4G LTE modem, three Gigabit ports, PoE for cameras and 300 Mbps Wi-Fi in an IP55 enclosure.

It is LTE Category 4, rated at up to 150 Mbps downlink and 50 Mbps uplink. Actual speed depends on the carrier and signal.

TP-Link lists LTE-FDD B1/B3/B5/B7/B8/B20/B28, LTE-TDD B38/B40/B41 and 3G B1/B5/B8, under the heading LTE Band of EU. Confirm your carrier's bands before installing.

Yes. Ports 2 and 3 provide passive/802.3af/at PoE out. TP-Link lists a PoE budget of 52 W with 802.3bt Type 4 input, 34 W with Type 3, 13 W with 802.3at and 9 W with the provided passive PoE adapter, and notes that PoE-out requires 802.3bt PoE input.

By passive, 802.3af, 802.3at or 802.3bt PoE on port 1, or a 12 V / 1 A DC adapter. A passive PoE adapter is in the box. TP-Link says the DC input is compatible with solar power systems.

Yes. It has an IP55 enclosure, 4 kV surge protection, and operates from -30 to 60 degrees C.

Yes. It supports load balancing between 4G and Ethernet WAN with link backup and automatic failover.

IPsec (6 tunnels), OpenVPN (18 tunnels), WireGuard, L2TP and PPTP (6 tunnels each), GRE in standalone mode and SD-WAN in controller mode.

Yes. It works with Omada hardware, software and cloud-based controllers and the Omada app. Zero-touch provisioning is supported with the Omada Cloud-Based Controller.
