The TP-Link EAP650 D30-Outdoor is an Omada AX3000 Wi-Fi 6 access point with a narrow 30° by 30° beam from built-in high-gain antennas (2x 12 dBi on 2.4 GHz, 2x 15 dBi on 5 GHz). It lists 574 Mbps plus 2402 Mbps, an IP68 enclosure rated for -30 to 70 °C, and a single gigabit port powered by 802.3at PoE or 48 V passive PoE.

EAP650 D30-Outdoor overview

TP-Link positions the EAP650 D30-Outdoor for warehouses and outdoor spaces such as yards, swimming pools and parks, where Wi-Fi has to be pushed a long way in one direction. The number in the name is the beam: its built-in directional antennas concentrate the signal into a 30° horizontal by 30° vertical pattern. Peak gain is 12 dBi per antenna on 2.4 GHz and 15 dBi per antenna on 5 GHz (single-antenna peak gains, as the datasheet notes). The datasheet calls this precise and extended coverage: the signal is aimed at one target area rather than spread around the mount point.

The radio is AX3000 dual-band, four-stream Wi-Fi 6: 2x2 MU-MIMO on each band, with signal rates of 574 Mbps at 2.4 GHz and 2402 Mbps at 5 GHz. TP-Link states these are maximum physical rates taken from the IEEE 802.11 standard, and that real throughput and coverage vary with network conditions, client limitations and the environment. The datasheet quotes coverage of up to 360 m on 2.4 GHz and 900 m on 5 GHz; that figure comes from laboratory testing and TP-Link says actual coverage is not guaranteed. OFDMA and 1024-QAM only help clients that support those Wi-Fi 6 features, and the datasheet lists MLO as not supported on this model.

For capacity, the AU page lists 250+ concurrent clients, with TP-Link's note that real capacity depends on the wireless environment and client traffic and is usually below the maximum connection count; the datasheet gives 256 associated stations. Sixteen SSIDs are available, eight per band, each of which can be mapped to a VLAN. Airtime fairness, band steering, load balancing by client count or RSSI threshold, beamforming and automatic channel assignment are listed in the wireless functions.

Physically the unit is 207.5 x 58 x 230 mm and 1.4 kg, sealed to IP68 with ±6 kV surge protection on the Ethernet port and an operating range of -30 to 70 °C at 10 to 90% non-condensing humidity. Its one gigabit RJ45 port takes 802.3at PoE or 48 V passive PoE; maximum draw is 12.5 W in the EU version and 14.7 W in the US version, and 6.6 W idle. The AU specification lists wall, pole and ceiling mounting, while the datasheet lists pole and wall kits in the box. A waterproof kit and installation guide are also packed. Bluetooth (BLE 5.2) is built in.

Management runs through Omada SDN: the Omada Cloud-Based Controller, hardware and software controllers, and the Omada app (datasheet minimums are Omada Controller or Omada Essential V5.15 and Omada App V4.25). Omada Mesh, seamless roaming, captive portal and cloud access need an Omada controller; zero-touch provisioning needs the Cloud-Based Controller. Without a controller you can still run it from its web interface, SSH or SNMP v1/v2c/v3, in AP, repeater or mesh mode.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about the EAP650 D30-Outdoor from the ARC IP Networks team.

Last reviewed October 2026.

It refers to the antenna beam. The EAP650 D30-Outdoor's built-in directional antennas cover 30° horizontally and 30° vertically, so the signal is concentrated toward one target area.

The datasheet quotes up to 360 m on 2.4 GHz and 900 m on 5 GHz. TP-Link calculates this from laboratory testing and states that actual coverage is not guaranteed and varies with clients and surroundings.

AX3000 Wi-Fi 6: up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz. These are maximum physical signal rates; real throughput is lower and depends on the network, clients and environment.

No. The EAP650 D30-Outdoor has its own built-in 30° directional antennas with 12 dBi and 15 dBi peak gain. Choose it when you need to cover a distant area in one direction.

Over its single gigabit Ethernet port, from an 802.3at PoE source or 48 V passive PoE. Maximum consumption is 12.5 W (EU) or 14.7 W (US). TP-Link's AU package list does not include a PoE injector.

Yes. It has an IP68 enclosure, ±6 kV surge protection on the Ethernet port and an operating range of -30 to 70 °C. A waterproof kit is in the box.

Not for basic operation, as it supports standalone web management. Omada Mesh, seamless roaming, captive portal and cloud access require a controller, and zero-touch provisioning requires the Omada Cloud-Based Controller.

TP-Link's AU page lists 250+ concurrent clients and the datasheet 256 associated stations. TP-Link notes that real capacity is generally lower and depends on client traffic.

The EAP650 D30-Outdoor, mounting kits, a waterproof kit and an installation guide, according to TP-Link's AU package contents.
