The TP-Link DR3220v-4G is an Omada 4G+ Cat6 Gigabit rackmount DSL gateway. It combines a VDSL2 35b DSL port (up to 350 Mbps, VDSL2/ADSL2+/ADSL2/ADSL compatible), a 4G+ Cat6 modem with a dual-SIM nano SIM slot (300 Mbps down, 50 Mbps up), a Gigabit SFP/RJ45 combo WAN/LAN port, four Gigabit LAN ports, two FXS phone ports, USB 3.0 and Omada SDN management, with IPsec, WireGuard, OpenVPN and SSL VPN.

DR3220v-4G overview

The DR3220v-4G is TP-Link's Omada 4G+ Cat6 Gigabit rackmount DSL gateway, hardware version V1 on the Australian page. It is an all-in-one edge device for a business site: a DSL modem, a 4G+ cellular modem, a multi-WAN router, a VoIP gateway and an Omada SDN gateway in one 294 x 180 x 44 mm chassis that can sit on a desk or mount in a rack with the included rackmount kit. Its interfaces are one DSL port, one Gigabit combo SFP/RJ45 port (one SFP WAN/LAN port plus one WAN/LAN port), four Gigabit RJ45 LAN ports, two FXS ports, one USB 3.0 port and one dual-SIM nano SIM slot, with two detachable 3 dBi omnidirectional LTE antennas and an antenna extension base in the box.

On the DSL side, the integrated port supports Super VDSL (VDSL2 profile 35b) for up to 350 Mbps DSL access, and VDSL2 profiles 8a, 8b, 8c, 8d, 12a, 12b and 17a, with backwards compatibility with ADSL2+ (G.992.5), ADSL2 (G.992.3) and ADSL (G.992.1 G.dmt and G.992.2 G.lite). On the cellular side, the 4G+ Cat6 modem supports up to 300 Mbps downlink and 50 Mbps uplink. TP-Link's datasheet for this model is the EU edition and lists EU LTE bands: LTE-FDD B1/B3/B5/B7/B8/B20/B28/B32, LTE-TDD B38/B40/B41 and 3G B1/B3/B5/B8, with carrier aggregation combinations. The Australian product page does not list bands, so check them against your carrier. Multi-WAN features include intelligent load balancing, application optimised routing, link backup by timing or failover and online detection, and the USB 3.0 port supports USB storage and a USB LTE dongle. SMS receive and send is supported.

Voice is built in. The two FXS ports connect analogue phones to a VoIP service using SIP and RTP/RTCP, with up to 12 SIP registrars and G.711 A/u-law, G.726, G.729 A/B and G.722 codecs. Telephone functions include a telephony book, DND and call blocking, call waiting, call forwarding, call hold, call return, emergency number, call log and voicemail. Routing features include static and policy routing, and RIP and OSPF in Standalone Mode. Rated performance includes NAT throughput of up to 945.8 Mbps download (DHCP), 150,000 concurrent sessions and 4,050 new sessions per second; TP-Link notes rated figures are based on tests with a specific software version and may vary in actual scenarios.

For secure site connectivity it supports 100 IPsec VPN tunnels (LAN-to-LAN and client-to-LAN, IKE v1/v2, up to AES256 and SHA2-512, with IPsec failover), measured at up to 561.7 Mbps; WireGuard at 290 Mbps; 55 OpenVPN tunnels; 50 SSL VPN tunnels; L2TP and PPTP server and client; and GRE in Standalone Mode. Security features include stateful ACL, source and destination IP access control, URL and web group filtering, IP-MAC binding, ARP scanning and flood, scan and ping defence. It is managed through a web interface, SNMP, TR-069 and CLI in Standalone Mode, or centrally with an Omada hardware, software or cloud-based controller, which adds cloud access, the Omada app and Zero-Touch Provisioning. Power is 100-240 V 50-60 Hz 0.6 A, maximum consumption is 24.4 W (full load plus USB), operating temperature is 0 to 40 degrees C, and it is certified CE and RoHS.
