The TP-Link Deco BE65-PoE(3-pack) is three flat, ceiling- or wall-mountable BE11000 tri-band Wi-Fi 7 Decos with three mounting kits, and TP-Link shows three units covering up to 7,600 sq ft (710 m²) and rates the 3-pack for 4-7+ bedroom houses. Each unit runs from 802.3at PoE or its included 12 V DC adapter, has two 5 Gbps auto-sensing ports, and lists 5765 Mbps on 6 GHz, 4324 Mbps on 5 GHz and 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz.

Deco BE65-PoE (3-pack) overview

The Deco BE65-PoE takes the BE11000 Wi-Fi 7 radios of the Deco BE65 family and puts them in a low, round 165 x 165 x 68.5 mm housing designed for the ceiling, the wall or a tabletop, powered either by Power over Ethernet or by a DC adapter. This 3-pack is the kit TP-Link sizes for the biggest homes: its specification lists the WiFi range as 4-7+ bedroom houses for the 3-pack, and the coverage graphic on the product page shows up to 7,600 sq ft (710 m²) with three units, compared with 5,800 sq ft (540 m²) for two and 3,000 sq ft (280 m²) for one. In the box are three Deco BE65-PoE units, three power adapters, three ceiling/wall mounting kits, one RJ45 Ethernet cable and a quick installation guide, so every unit can be mounted and powered without buying extras.

Power and cabling are what make this model different from the cylindrical Deco BE65. Each unit accepts IEEE 802.3at PoE, so a single Ethernet cable from a PoE switch carries both data and power to a ceiling position, and TP-Link says this simplifies deployment by removing extra cables and adapters. Where there is no PoE, the 12 V DC adapter supplied for each unit is used instead. Each Deco has two 5 Gbps Ethernet ports with WAN/LAN auto-sensing, and TP-Link advertises up to 5 Gbps internet access, noting that 5 Gbps internet speeds require a compatible plan and equipment and that only one port serves as the WAN at a time. With cable already run to each mounting point, the same Ethernet links can act as wired backhaul, and TP-Link says each unit can combine wired and wireless backhaul simultaneously.

On the wireless side each unit is BE11000 tri-band Wi-Fi 7: 5765 Mbps on 6 GHz, 4324 Mbps on 5 GHz and 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, all 802.11be. TP-Link highlights six streams, 2x2 MU-MIMO, OFDMA, four internal antennas, Multi-Link Operation, 320 MHz channels, 4K-QAM and Multi-RUs, and quotes over 200 connected devices from lab tests. Its footnotes say 320 MHz is only available on 6 GHz, 240 MHz may be unavailable on 5 GHz in Australia due to regulatory restrictions, clients must support each feature, and the headline rates are physical signal rates, not guaranteed throughput. The mesh itself supports IEEE 802.11k/v/r for true seamless roaming, adaptive path selection, band steering, AP steering and self-healing, which TP-Link describes as covering basements, garages and yards with one network.

The three units are set up and managed together in the Deco app, which shows the network status and connected devices, lets you pause, prioritise or block devices and test internet speed, and works remotely. HomeShield brings an SPI firewall, access control, real-time IoT protection, malicious site blocking, intrusion prevention, DDoS attack prevention and a home network scanner; TP-Link notes advanced HomeShield features require a paid subscription. Parental controls include profiles, a content filter library, YouTube restriction, SafeSearch, family time, bedtime, off time and reports. Guest networks run on all three bands with time and bandwidth control, and OpenVPN, PPTP and L2TP/IPSec work as both server and client. Further listed features are IoT network and device isolation, Tapo/Kasa onboarding, static routing, node and band connection preference, QoS by device, IPTV, port forwarding, UPnP, IPv4 and IPv6, TP-Link DDNS and OTA firmware upgrades. Operating temperature is 0 to 40 degrees C, so it is an indoor unit.
