The TP-Link Deco BE25-Outdoor(1-pack) is one IP65 weatherproof BE5000 dual-band Wi-Fi 7 mesh unit for yards, pools, patios and outdoor areas, or for indoor use. TP-Link quotes 1-pack coverage of up to 2,800 sq ft (260 m²), 4324 Mbps on 5 GHz and 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, and over 150 devices. It has two 2.5 Gbps ports, runs from IEEE 802.3at PoE or AC power, mounts on a pole, wall or tabletop and is rated for -30 to 60 degrees C.

Deco BE25-Outdoor (1-pack) overview

The Deco BE25-Outdoor is TP-Link's outdoor member of the Deco Wi-Fi 7 family, built to take a Deco mesh past the walls of the house. TP-Link suggests it for swimming pools, yards, outdoor cafes and similar spaces, and for outdoor devices such as cameras, outdoor viewing and phones or laptops used outside. It can join an existing Deco mesh over a wireless or wired connection, and TP-Link says all Deco models can work together, so you keep one network name from the lounge to the back fence; it can also run as a router or access point in its own right, indoors or out. The 1-pack contains one Deco BE25-Outdoor unit, one RJ45 Ethernet cable, one power adapter, an installation guide and a wall/pole mounting kit with pole mounting strap, plastic wall anchors and self-tapping screws. TP-Link quotes 1-pack coverage of up to 2,800 sq ft (260 m²), and suggests adding another Deco if you need more.

Durability is what separates it from indoor Decos. The enclosure is rated IP65 in ingress protection testing, which TP-Link says protects against dust ingress, shock, vibration and moisture, and the operating temperature range is -30 to 60 degrees C with 10 to 90% humidity. TP-Link lists lightning protection and ESD protection, with a footnote that this protection depends on proper setup, grounding and cable shielding, and recommends following the manual and consulting an IT professional for installation. Smart antennas are designed to resist interference from outdoor base stations by automatically detecting signal disruptions. Mounting options are pole, wall and tabletop, inside or outside, and the unit measures 110 x 121.3 x 215.5 mm.

Power and wiring suit outdoor runs. Both 2.5 Gbps Ethernet ports are listed as PoE and WAN/LAN auto-sensing, and the unit accepts IEEE 802.3at PoE or 100-240 V 50/60 Hz AC, so a single cable from a PoE switch or injector inside can carry data and power to a pole or wall position. TP-Link says each unit can connect a wireless and a wired backhaul at the same time to improve throughput and reduce latency, and notes that 2.5 Gbps internet speeds require compatible plans and equipment and only one port acts as WAN at a time. The radio is BE5000 dual-band Wi-Fi 7: 4324 Mbps on 5 GHz and 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz with 802.11be, OFDMA and four streams through four internal high-performance antennas. Multi-Link Operation, 4K-QAM, Multi-RUs and a 240 MHz channel are listed, although TP-Link notes 240 MHz may be unavailable on 5 GHz in Australia due to regulatory restrictions. TP-Link quotes over 150 devices from lab tests.

It is managed in the Deco app with the rest of your Decos, either from the central node at home or remotely, and works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. HomeShield provides an SPI firewall, access control, real-time IoT protection, a malicious site blocker, intrusion prevention, DDoS attack prevention and a home network scanner, plus parental controls; advanced HomeShield features need a paid subscription. OpenVPN, PPTP and L2TP/IPSec are supported as VPN server and client, guest networks run on 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz with time and bandwidth control, and WPA3-Personal is available. Other listed features include IoT network and device isolation, Tapo/Kasa onboarding, static routing, node and band connection preference, QoS by device, IPTV, port forwarding, UPnP, IPv6, TP-Link DDNS and OTA firmware upgrades. Seamless roaming uses IEEE 802.11k/v/r, so a phone moves to the fastest Deco as you walk outside; TP-Link notes clients need to support these standards and may need extra setup.
