The TP-Link Archer TX20UH is an AX1800 high gain dual-band Wi-Fi 6 USB adapter for Windows 10 and 11. It reaches up to 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, uses two high-gain dual-band antennas with beamforming for connections from further away, and comes with a USB 3.0 cradle so you can position it away from the PC.

Archer TX20UH overview

The Archer TX20UH is the high-gain version of TP-Link's AX1800 Wi-Fi 6 USB adapter. Where a compact adapter sits flush against the computer, the TX20UH stands up with two high-gain dual-band antennas, and TP-Link says those antennas combine with beamforming so you can connect to your Wi-Fi from wherever in your home. Speeds are the same AX1800 class as TP-Link's other Wi-Fi 6 USB adapters: it breaks the gigabit barrier with up to 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz plus 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. The full dynamic signal rates are up to 1201 Mbps (11ax), 867 Mbps (11ac), 300 Mbps (11n) and 54 Mbps (11a) on 5 GHz, and 574 Mbps (11ax), 400 Mbps (11n), 54 Mbps (11g) and 11 Mbps (11b) on 2.4 GHz, under IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax.

What makes it practical for a desktop under a desk is the USB 3.0 cradle in the box. Plugging the adapter into the cradle lets you stand it on the desk, away from the metal case, where the antennas have a clearer path to the router. The adapter measures 30.5 x 14.8 x 111.7 mm, and a status LED shows its state. Transmission power is listed at 19 dBm (FCC) or 16 dBm (CE) EIRP on 5 GHz, and 19 dBm (FCC) or 14.5 dBm (CE) on 2.4 GHz.

For gaming and busy networks, TP-Link pairs OFDMA with MU-MIMO for the most efficient Wi-Fi connection and lower latency, provided the router supports those Wi-Fi 6 features. The SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface is rated up to 10x faster than USB 2.0, so the USB link does not hold back the Wi-Fi 6 speeds. Wireless security covers WEP, WPA/WPA2/WPA3 and WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK, with WPA3 bringing the latest protection for personal passwords, and the adapter runs in infrastructure mode.

TP-Link lists Windows 10 and Windows 11 as the supported operating systems. The adapter carries FCC and CE certification and is rated for operation from 0 °C to 40 °C at 10% to 90% non-condensing humidity. TP-Link notes that some features may need software updates. In the box are the Archer TX20UH AX1800 high gain wireless USB adapter, a USB 3.0 cradle and a quick installation guide.
