The TP-Link Archer TBE552E is a BE9300 tri-band Wi-Fi 7 PCIe adapter with Bluetooth 5.4 for Windows 11 (64-bit) PCs. It has up to 5760 Mbps on 6 GHz, 2880 Mbps on 5 GHz and 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, two multi-directional tri-band antennas that attach to the card, WPA3 security, a low-profile bracket and a resource CD for driver installation.

Archer TBE552E overview

The Archer TBE552E is a BE9300 Wi-Fi 7 Bluetooth 5.4 PCIe adapter that puts tri-band 802.11be into a desktop PC. TP-Link sums up its speed as up to 5760 Mbps on 6 GHz plus 2880 Mbps on 5 GHz plus 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. Its specification lists IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be support with these dynamic rates by standard: 6 GHz up to 5760 Mbps (11be) and 2402 Mbps (11ax); 5 GHz up to 2880 Mbps (11be), 2402 Mbps (11ax), 1732 Mbps (11ac), 300 Mbps (11n) and 54 Mbps (11a); 2.4 GHz up to 688 Mbps (11be), 574 Mbps (11ax), 300 Mbps (11n), 54 Mbps (11g) and 11 Mbps (11b). TP-Link says the Wi-Fi 7 standard unleashes the full potential of the 6 GHz band to double the bandwidth of the last generation; the 320 MHz width behind that claim is only available on 6 GHz and may be restricted in some regions.

The card runs in infrastructure mode and its two high-performance tri-band antennas are multi-directional, designed by TP-Link for optimal signal reception and wider coverage. They attach directly to the card's bracket; unlike the Archer TBE550E, the TBE552E's package lists no magnetised extension base or RF cable and the product page lists no status lighting, which also makes the card narrower at 78.5 x 120.8 x 21.5 mm. Transmit power is 24 dBm (FCC) EIRP on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz and 20 dBm (FCC) on 6 GHz, or 20 dBm (CE) on all three bands. Reception sensitivity is listed at -94 dBm for 6 GHz HE20 MCS0 and -44 dBm for 6 GHz EHT320 MCS13, -94 dBm for 5 GHz VHT20 MCS0 and -48 dBm for 5 GHz EHT160 MCS13, and -95 dBm for 2.4 GHz HT20 MCS0.

Bluetooth 5.4 is part of the card, and TP-Link describes it as a security and reliability improvement over the previous high-speed Bluetooth 5.3. It needs the supplied 0.3 m Bluetooth header cable connected to the motherboard, and TP-Link notes that certain features such as Bluetooth 5.4 may be restricted on some computing systems until the driver is updated. Wi-Fi security covers WPA/WPA2/WPA3 and WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK, with WPA3 giving enhanced protection for personal password safety where your router supports it. For the Wi-Fi 7 features themselves, including 320 MHz bandwidth, 4K-QAM, Multi-RUs, OFDMA, MU-MIMO and BSS colouring, both the router and the PC operating system must also support them.

TP-Link supports the TBE552E on Windows 11 (64-bit) only. The package contains the Archer TBE552E, two high-performance antennas, a low-profile bracket for smaller cases, the Bluetooth header cable, a quick installation guide and a resource CD with the driver; current drivers are also on the TP-Link support site. The card carries FCC, CE, IC, NCC, JRF, VCCI and BSMI certification and is rated for operation from 0 °C to 40 °C at 10% to 90% non-condensing humidity, with storage from -40 °C to 70 °C.
