The TP-Link Archer T2U Plus is an AC600 high gain wireless dual-band USB adapter with one 5 dBi external antenna that rotates and adjusts for better reception. It delivers up to 433 Mbps on 5 GHz and 200 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, connects over USB 2.0, has a status LED and is listed for Windows 11/10/8.1/8/7/XP and Mac OS 10.15 and earlier.

Archer T2U Plus overview

The Archer T2U Plus is TP-Link's AC600 high gain wireless dual-band USB adapter, built for computers that sit too far from the router for a nano adapter to hold a good signal. TP-Link's summary is high gain, high performance and increased range for a smooth online experience. The difference from the Archer T2U Nano and T2UB Nano is the antenna: the Plus has one 5 dBi high-gain external antenna, which TP-Link says ensures stronger signal transmission and reception for a stable Wi-Fi connection throughout your home.

That antenna rotates and adjusts in multiple directions, so you can aim it to suit the room and the position of the router. The body measures 57.8 x 18 x 173.4 mm with the antenna, much larger than the nano models, and a status LED shows the adapter's state. The interface is USB 2.0.

Wi-Fi performance matches the rest of the AC600 T2U range. It receives signals on two separate bands, IEEE 802.11b/g/n on 2.4 GHz and IEEE 802.11a/n/ac on 5 GHz, with speeds listed as 600 Mbps in total: 433 Mbps on 5 GHz for HD streaming and lag-free online gaming, and 200 Mbps on 2.4 GHz for normal use such as web surfing with legacy devices. TP-Link notes that 256-QAM support raises the 2.4 GHz rate from 150 Mbps to 200 Mbps, about 33% faster. Modulation covers DBPSK, DQPSK, CCK, OFDM, 16-QAM, 64-QAM and 256-QAM, and wireless modes are ad-hoc and infrastructure.

Security is listed as WEP, WPA/WPA2 and WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK; TP-Link does not list WPA3 for this model, whereas the Archer T2UB Nano does. Setup uses a friendly user interface from the resource CD, and the specification table lists Windows 11, 10, 8.1, 8, 7 and XP, plus Mac OS 10.15 and earlier. It is rated for operation from 0 to 40 degrees C at 10 to 90% non-condensing humidity, and for storage from -40 to 70 degrees C at 5 to 90% non-condensing humidity. Certifications are FCC and CE. The box contains the Archer T2U Plus adapter, a quick installation guide and a resource CD.
