The TP-Link Tapo L530B is a multicolour smart Wi-Fi light bulb with a B22 bayonet base. Choose from 16 million colours or tunable white from 2500 K to 6500 K, dim it in the Tapo app, and enjoy 806 lumens, equivalent to a 60 W incandescent lamp. It connects directly to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi with no hub and supports schedules, Away Mode and voice control with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

Tapo L530B overview

The Tapo L530B is TP-Link's multicolour smart Wi-Fi bulb for B22 bayonet lamp bases, in the A60 shape at 115 x 60 mm. TP-Link pitches it as immersive lighting for any scenario: you design lighting for your daily routine or special activities by customising brightness, colour temperature from 2500 K to 6500 K, and colour from a palette of 16 million hues. Output is 806 lumens, which TP-Link equates to a 60 W incandescent lamp, with a 220 degree beam angle.

Colour changing and dimming both run through the Tapo app and the cloud. Find the lighting you want for a movie night and save it as a preset you can select next time. Schedules and timers turn the bulb on or off at the brightness you set, and sunrise and sunset modes switch it automatically according to your time zone. With the Tapo app, one tap on your smartphone turns the light on however late you get home, and Away Mode switches the bulb on and off at random intervals so the house looks occupied while you are on holiday.

Voice control works through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, with commands such as "Alexa, turn on the light" or "Hey Google, dim my bedroom lights". The L530B connects to your home Wi-Fi network directly, with no extra hub or device required, and joins the Tapo app alongside other Tapo devices. Setup follows a step-by-step guide in the app and takes only a few minutes.

Technically, the L530B uses IEEE 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi on the 2.4 GHz band only and runs on 220-240 V AC at 50/60 Hz. TP-Link lists a colour rendering index of 80 or higher, colour consistency of 6 SDCM or better, warm-up to 95% in one second or less, 15,000 switching cycles and a standby consumption of 0.4 W. It is rated for -15 °C to 40 °C at 10% to 90% non-condensing humidity, and the factory default is 2700 K at 100% brightness. A single bulb weighs 68 g. In the box are the Tapo L530B and a quick start guide.
