The TP-Link SX3008F is an Omada 8-port 10GE SFP+ L2+ managed switch for 10G aggregation. It has eight 10 Gbps SFP+ slots, 160 Gbps switching capacity, a 32K MAC table and 16 Mbit buffer, static routing with 48 routes, QinQ, ERPS, DDM and sFlow, RJ45 and Micro-USB console ports, and a fanless 1U rackmount chassis with internal AC power. Manage it standalone or through an Omada controller. It has no RJ45 data ports and no PoE.

SX3008F overview

The SX3008F is TP-Link's Omada 8-port 10GE SFP+ L2+ managed switch, hardware version V1, which TP-Link presents as a full 10G fibre switch for lightning-fast aggregation switching. All eight data ports are 10GE SFP+ slots, so it can tie together 10G uplinks from access switches, connect servers and NAS units, or link to a gateway. There is also one RJ45 console port and one Micro-USB console port for CLI access. There are no RJ45 data ports and no PoE; it is a pure fibre aggregation switch.

Performance is 160 Gbps switching capacity, a 119.04 Mpps forwarding rate, a 32K MAC address table, 16 Mbit packet buffer and 9 KB jumbo frames. The 1U chassis measures 440 x 180 x 44 mm (17.3 x 7.1 x 1.7 in), is rack mountable with the included kit and has a physical security lock slot. It is fanless, which suits comms rooms and offices where fan noise matters, and runs from an internal 100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz supply with a power cord included. Maximum power consumption is 15.46 W and heat dissipation 52.75 BTU/hr at 220 V / 50 Hz. Operating temperature is 0 to 50 degrees C with 10 to 90 percent non-condensing humidity.

L2+ features include 128 IPv4/IPv6 interfaces, 48 static routes, 128 static ARP entries and 512 ARP entries, proxy and gratuitous ARP, DHCP server, DHCP interface and VLAN relay and DHCP L2 relay, so the SX3008F can route between VLANs at the aggregation layer. Layer 2 features cover link aggregation, spanning tree, loopback detection, 802.3x flow control and mirroring. Multicast handling supports 1,000 IPv4/IPv6 IGMP groups with IGMP snooping and authentication, MVR, MLD snooping and multicast filtering with 256 profiles. VLAN options include 4K VLAN groups, 802.1Q, MAC VLAN with 30 entries, protocol VLAN, private VLAN, GVRP, voice VLAN and port-based and selective QinQ.

TP-Link lists ISP features including L2PT, DLDP, PPPoE ID insertion, ERPS ring protection, 802.3ah Ethernet Link OAM, DDM for monitoring SFP+ optics and sFlow for traffic sampling. QoS offers 8 priority queues, 802.1p CoS and DSCP, SP, WRR and SP+WRR scheduling, port and flow-based rate limiting and 802.1p/DSCP remarking. Standalone management includes the web GUI, CLI through the console port or Telnet, SNMP v1/v2c/v3 with trap and inform, RMON groups 1, 2, 3 and 9, LLDP/LLDP-MED, DHCP Auto Install, dual image and dual configuration, CPU monitoring, cable diagnostics, password recovery, SNTP and system log.

In an Omada network the SX3008F is managed by an Omada hardware, software or cloud-based controller, adding cloud access, the Omada app, automatic device discovery, batch configuration and firmware upgrading, intelligent network monitoring, abnormal event warnings, unified configuration and reboot schedules. Zero-Touch Provisioning requires the Omada cloud-based controller. For networks built on Omada Pro, TP-Link offers the S5500-8XF, an 8-port SFP+ switch managed by the Omada Pro controller. In the box are the SX3008F switch, a power cord, a quick installation guide, a rackmount kit and rubber feet.
