The TP-Link SG3452XMPP is an Omada Access Plus L2+ managed switch with 48 gigabit PoE ports: eight 802.3bt PoE++ ports with up to 90 W each and forty PoE+ ports with up to 30 W each, sharing a 750 W budget. Four 10G SFP+ slots, 176 Gbps switching, 48 static routes, ERPS and sFlow come in a 1U rackmount case with Omada SDN cloud management.

SG3452XMPP overview

The SG3452XMPP is TP-Link's Omada Access Plus 48-port gigabit and 4-port 10GE SFP+ switch with 40-port PoE+ and 8-port PoE++, the high-density PoE model in the Access Plus line. TP-Link's Australian page shows hardware version V1.20 (V1 is also listed). All 48 RJ45 ports are 10/100/1000 Mbps and all 48 supply PoE. Ports 1 to 8 are IEEE 802.3at/af/bt PoE++ ports with up to 90 W per port, for high-draw devices such as Wi-Fi 7 access points, PTZ cameras and other 802.3bt equipment, and ports 9 to 48 are 802.3at/af PoE+ ports with up to 30 W per port for standard access points, cameras and IP phones. The total PoE budget is 750 W; TP-Link notes PoE budget figures are based on laboratory testing and the actual budget is not guaranteed.

PoE features include Fast PoE, Perpetual PoE (powered devices stay on through a switch reboot) and PoE Extend Mode, with Alternative A pinout. Four 10G SFP+ slots carry uplinks, and switching capacity is 176 Gbps with a forwarding rate of 130.9 Mpps, a 12 Mbit buffer, a 16K MAC address table and 9 KB jumbo frames. RJ45 and Micro-USB console ports provide local access, with an RJ45 console cable in the box. The internal power supply takes 100-240 V, 50/60 Hz; maximum power consumption is 913.4 W and heat dissipation 3114.69 BTU/h at 110 V/60 Hz with 750 W of powered devices connected, so allow for this in rack power and cooling. It has three fans, and the datasheet lists fanless mode only at 0 W PoE load and 25 degrees C ambient.

The switch measures 440 x 330 x 44 mm (17.3 x 13.0 x 1.7 in), weighs 5.75 kg according to the datasheet, is rack mountable with the rackmount kit and screws included, and has a physical security lock slot. The datasheet lists surge protection of plus or minus 6 kV on service ports and on the power port in differential and common mode. The operating range is -5 to 45 degrees C, and it is certified CE and FCC.

The L2+ feature set covers 128 IPv4/IPv6 interfaces, 48 IPv4/IPv6 static routes, 128 static ARP entries (512 ARP entries), proxy and gratuitous ARP, DHCP server, DHCP interface and VLAN relay, and DHCP L2 relay. Layer 2 features include link aggregation, spanning tree, loopback detection, flow control and mirroring, with 4K VLAN groups, 802.1Q, MAC VLAN (30 entries), protocol VLAN, private VLAN, GVRP, voice VLAN and QinQ with VLAN mapping and replace. Multicast handling supports 4,000 IGMP groups with IGMP snooping and authentication, MVR, MLD snooping and multicast filtering. ISP-oriented features include L2PT, DLDP, PPPoE ID insertion, ERPS, 802.3ah link OAM, DDM and sFlow. Security includes IP-MAC-port and IPv6-MAC-port binding, DHCP and DHCPv6 snooping, ARP inspection, source guard, 802.1X and ACLs, and QoS offers 8 queues with SP, WRR and SP+WRR scheduling. TP-Link's ordering information lists its gigabit SFP and 10G SFP+ modules, such as the SM311LS, SM311LM, SM5110-LR and SM5110-SR, for the uplink slots.

For Omada SDN, centralised management uses the Omada Cloud-Based Controller, Omada Hardware Controller or Omada Software Controller; cloud access and the Omada app require one of those, and Zero-Touch Provisioning requires the Omada Cloud-Based Controller. Controller features include automatic device discovery, batch configuration and firmware upgrades, network monitoring and abnormal event warnings. Standalone management is via the web GUI, CLI over console or Telnet, SNMP v1/v2c/v3 with RMON, LLDP/LLDP-MED, DHCP AutoInstall, dual image and configuration, cable diagnostics, EEE and password recovery. In the box are the switch, a power cord, an RJ45 console cable, a quick installation guide, a rackmount kit, rubber feet and screws. Compared with its 24-port sibling, the SG3428XMPP (16 PoE+ and 8 PoE++ ports with a 500 W budget), the SG3452XMPP keeps eight 90 W PoE++ ports but doubles the port count to 48 and raises the budget to 750 W.
