The TP-Link SG2452LP is an Omada Access 52-port Gigabit switch with 32-port PoE+ (AU hardware V1.20). It has 32 x 802.3af/at PoE+ RJ45 ports sharing a 230 W budget, 16 x non-PoE Gigabit RJ45 ports and 4 x Gigabit SFP slots, with 104 Gbps switching, static routing, VLAN, ACL and QoS in a fanless 19-inch rackmount chassis, managed standalone or by an Omada controller.

SG2452LP overview

The SG2452LP is TP-Link's Omada Access 52-port Gigabit switch with 32-port PoE+, and TP-Link Australia lists hardware version V1.20. The 52 ports break down as 32 x 10/100/1000 Mbps PoE+ RJ45 ports, 16 x 10/100/1000 Mbps non-PoE RJ45 ports and 4 x Gigabit SFP slots. That split is the point of this model: the first 32 ports power access points, IP cameras and IP phones over 802.3af/at PoE+, while the remaining 16 copper ports serve PCs, printers and other mains-powered devices, and the four SFP slots carry fibre uplinks. It sits above the SG2428LP (16 PoE+ ports, 150 W) in TP-Link's Omada Access L-series, and below the SG3452P L2+ managed switch, which has PoE+ on all 48 RJ45 ports.

PoE output is up to 30 W per port with a 230 W total budget, Alternative A pinout, and Fast PoE, Perpetual PoE and PoE Extend Mode listed in the datasheet. TP-Link notes the budget figure is a calculated maximum, so plan the mix of devices against it. Switching capacity is 104 Gbps and the forwarding rate is 77.37 Mpps, with a 16K MAC table, 12 Mbit packet buffer and 9 KB jumbo frames. Unusually for a switch of this size it is fanless, which makes it suitable for rooms where noise matters. The 440 x 330 x 44 mm chassis is 19-inch rack mountable with brackets, mounting feet and screws in the box, has an internal 100-240 V AC supply, a physical security lock slot and ±6 kV surge protection, and the datasheet lists a net weight of 5.3 kg and an MTBF of 300,692 hours at 25 C. Maximum consumption is 283.8 W at 220 V/50 Hz with 230 W of PDs connected and standby consumption is 14.0 W. It operates at -5 to 40 C and is CE and FCC certified.

Software features include static routing with 32 IPv4/IPv6 static routes and 32 IP interfaces, a DHCP server and DHCP relay, static, proxy and gratuitous ARP, 802.3ad LACP link aggregation, STP/RSTP/MSTP, loopback detection, mirroring, 4K VLAN groups with 802.1Q, MAC, protocol and voice VLANs and GVRP, IGMP snooping, ACLs and 802.1p/DSCP QoS. The management list also includes ONVIF for surveillance deployments, Dying Gasp, Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM) for SFP modules, cable diagnostics, EEE and dual image and configuration. Standalone management is via web GUI, CLI through telnet, SNMP v1/v2c/v3 and RMON.

Centralised management uses the Omada cloud-based controller (built-in version 5.15.22 or later), an Omada hardware controller or the Omada software controller (version 5.15.20 or later); TP-Link's AU page states these minimum controller versions, so check existing controllers before adding this switch to a site. With a controller it gains cloud access, the Omada app, automatic device discovery, batch configuration and firmware upgrades, intelligent network monitoring, abnormal event warnings, unified configuration and reboot schedules. Zero-Touch Provisioning requires the Omada cloud-based controller. TP-Link's ordering information lists compatible Gigabit SFP modules including the SM311LS (single-mode, 20 km), SM311LM (multi-mode, 550 m) and SM321A/SM321B WDM bi-directional modules. The box contains the SG2452LP, a power cord, mounting brackets, mounting feet, screws and an installation guide.
