The TP-Link S4500-8GP2F is an Omada Pro 8-port PoE+ Gigabit smart switch with two Gigabit SFP slots (hardware V1). All eight RJ45 ports are 802.3at/af PoE+ with a 61 W total PoE budget, and the fanless desktop/wall-mount switch adds 20 Gbps switching, L2+ static routing, ACLs, 802.1X and centralised management through an Omada Pro controller.

S4500-8GP2F overview

The S4500-8GP2F is TP-Link's Omada Pro 8-port PoE+ Gigabit smart switch with 2 SFP slots, listed on TP-Link Australia as hardware version V1. It is equipped with eight 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 ports and two Gigabit SFP ports. All eight Ethernet ports are compliant with 802.3at/af PoE, and TP-Link says users can supply up to 61 W total power to connected devices, so wireless access points, surveillance cameras and IP phones can be deployed without worrying about power outlets. The SFP slots take 1000BASE-X multimode or single-mode fibre for an uplink or a link to another switch, which the four-PoE S4500-8GP does not offer.

It is worth planning around the budget. With 61 W shared across eight PoE+ ports (up to 30 W each per the datasheet), the S4500-8GP2F suits a mix of lower-draw devices such as IP phones, cameras and access points rather than eight fully loaded 30 W devices; TP-Link's S4500-8GHP2F is the higher-budget 8-port model in the same series with a 150 W budget. Switching capacity is 20 Gbps and the forwarding rate is 14.88 Mpps, with an 8K MAC table, 4.1 Mbit buffer and 9 KB jumbo frames. Power comes from an external adapter rated 53.5 VDC / 1.31 A; TP-Link lists maximum consumption of 77.8 W and heat dissipation of 265.3 BTU/h at 110 V/60 Hz with 61 W of PDs connected, and standby consumption of 4.5 W. The fanless metal unit measures 209 x 126 x 26 mm for desktop or wall mounting, operates at 0 to 40 C, and is CE and FCC certified.

Despite its compact size, it runs the full Omada Pro smart switch feature set. L2+ functions are 16 IPv4/IPv6 interfaces, 32 IPv4/IPv6 static routes, DHCP server, DHCP interface and VLAN relay, DHCP L2 relay and static, proxy and gratuitous ARP. Layer 2 covers link aggregation including 802.3ad, STP/RSTP/MSTP, loopback detection, 802.3x flow control, mirroring, DLDP and LLDP/LLDP-MED, with 802.1Q, MAC, protocol and voice VLANs and IGMP/MLD snooping. TP-Link highlights its security: IP-MAC-Port binding and VLAN binding, port security, storm control, DHCP snooping, an integrated DoS defence list, L2 to L4 ACLs that deny packets by MAC, IP, TCP/UDP port or VLAN ID, and 802.1X authentication working with a RADIUS server so only valid users gain access. QoS uses IP, MAC, TCP and UDP identifiers to keep voice and video smooth even when bandwidth is short.

For management it supports web GUI, CLI, SNMP v1/v2c/v3, RMON, dual image and cable diagnostics in standalone mode. Integrated into Omada Pro through the Omada Pro software or cloud-based controller, it gains centralised cloud management with cloud access and the Omada app, Zero-Touch Provisioning (with the cloud-based controller), Intelligent Anomaly Detection, automatic device discovery, batch configuration and firmware upgrades. TP-Link positions the Omada Pro platform for hospitality, education, retail and offices, where access points, switches and routers are run from a single interface. The box contains the S4500-8GP2F, a power cord, an installation guide and rubber feet.

Eight 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 ports, all 802.3at/af PoE+, and two Gigabit SFP slots.

61 W total across the eight PoE+ ports. TP-Link's datasheet lists up to 30 W per port.

Not at full load. The 61 W budget is shared, so plan for lower-draw devices or mix device types. TP-Link's S4500-8GHP2F has a 150 W budget.

The S4500-8GP has PoE+ on four of its eight ports and no SFP slots. The S4500-8GP2F has PoE+ on all eight ports plus two Gigabit SFP slots and 20 Gbps switching capacity.

Yes, L2+ static routing with 32 IPv4/IPv6 static routes and 16 IP interfaces, plus DHCP server and relay.

No. It can be managed standalone by web GUI, CLI and SNMP. Centralised cloud management, the Omada app and Zero-Touch Provisioning use an Omada Pro controller; ZTP requires the cloud-based controller.

Yes. It is fanless, so it is silent for desks and small closets.

By an external power adapter with a 53.5 VDC / 1.31 A output.

Yes. TP-Link lists desktop and wall mounting for its 209 x 126 x 26 mm case.
