The TP-Link Omada POE5430G-M2 is a 2.5G passive PoE adapter that supplies power and transmits data to a passive PoE device over one Ethernet cable. Both of its RJ45 ports run at 10/100/1000/2500 Mbps with auto-negotiation, its power supply is rated 54 V / 0.56 A, and it measures 110 x 57 x 36 mm.

POE5430G-M2 overview

The POE5430G-M2 is TP-Link's Omada 2.5G passive PoE adapter. TP-Link's description of what it does is direct: the passive PoE adapter POE5430G-M2 can be used to simultaneously supply power and transmit data to a passive PoE device. Network data arrives on its DATA IN port, and power and data leave together on its PWR+DATA OUT port to the passive PoE device. Because it is a passive PoE adapter, TP-Link positions it for passive PoE devices; the official specifications do not list IEEE 802.3af, 802.3at or 802.3bt support, so check your device's PoE input type and its power requirements against the adapter's published 54 V / 0.56 A power supply rating before connecting it.

The '2.5G' in its name reflects its ports. The POE5430G-M2 has two RJ45 ports, a DATA IN port and a PWR+DATA OUT port, and TP-Link lists both as 10/100/1000/2500 Mbps auto-negotiation ports. Each port therefore supports 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, 1000 Mbps and 2500 Mbps operation, with the speed set by auto-negotiation with the connected equipment. Both the DATA IN port and the PWR+DATA OUT port are rated for the same 2500 Mbps maximum, so neither port is limited to gigabit speed in the official specifications.

Power comes from the adapter's power supply, which is rated at 54 V / 0.56 A, and a power cord is included in the package. A single LED, labelled PWR, is listed in the specifications. The unit measures 110 x 57 x 36 mm (4.33 x 2.24 x 1.42 in, W x D x H). TP-Link rates it for an operating temperature of -5 to 40 °C (23 to 104 °F) and a storage temperature of -40 to 70 °C (-40 to 158 °F), with operating humidity of 10 to 90 % non-condensing and storage humidity of 5 to 90 % non-condensing.

The POE5430G-M2 carries CE, FCC, BSMI, UL and KC certifications, the five certifications listed in its official specifications. In the box are the POE5430G-M2 adapter, a power cord and an installation guide. In summary, the official record describes a passive PoE adapter with a 2.5G DATA IN port and a 2.5G PWR+DATA OUT port, a 54 V / 0.56 A power supply, a PWR LED, and a 110 x 57 x 36 mm body rated for -5 to 40 °C operation. ARC IP Networks supplies the POE5430G-M2 from Australian stock with the full manufacturer's warranty.
