The TP-Link POE150S is an Omada PoE injector that fully complies with IEEE 802.3af: it adds power to a 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet link and delivers power and data over a single cable up to 100 m, with auto-determined output up to 15.4 W, short circuit protection and plug-and-play installation. TP-Link names APs, IP cameras and IP phones as devices it can power.

POE150S overview

The POE150S is TP-Link's Omada PoE injector. It fully complies with the IEEE 802.3af standard and can work with all IEEE 802.3af PoE compliant PDs (powered devices), or with PoE receiver adapters such as TP-Link's POE10R or other equivalent products. TP-Link positions it for expanding your network to places where there is no power line or outlet, but where you wish to fix a device such as an AP, IP camera or IP phone. Because power and data travel together over a single cable, TP-Link highlights the cost saving of needing no power cabling for the Ethernet network device.

The injector has two 10/100/1000 Mbps auto-negotiation RJ45 ports: a LAN IN (DATA IN) port for the incoming data connection and a PoE port (POWER + DATA OUT) for the powered device, plus a DC 48 V power input port. It delivers power and data over the single cable up to 100 metres. Supported standards are IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.3u, IEEE 802.3ab and IEEE 802.3af. For cabling, TP-Link specifies UTP category 5, 5e or 6 cable for 1000BASE-T, UTP category 5 or 5e or EIA/TIA-568 100 ohm STP for 100BASE-TX, and UTP category 3, 4 or 5 or 100 ohm STP for 10BASE-T, each up to 100 m.

On the power side, an advanced auto-sensing algorithm enables the POE150S to provide power to 802.3af PDs, and it supports power classification, auto-determining the necessary power requirements of the connected device. The maximum output is 15.4 W. TP-Link also lists short circuit protection for high safety. The injector runs from an external 48 VDC power adapter, which is included in the box; the product page lists the power supply as 48 V / 0.35 A. A PWR LED shows power status. Installation is plug and play and requires no configuration.

TP-Link rates the POE150S for storage from -40 to 70 °C, with operating humidity of 10 to 90% non-condensing and storage humidity of 5 to 90% non-condensing. It carries CE and FCC certification. In the box are the POE150S, a power adapter and an installation guide. Because it is an 802.3af injector, check that the device you want to power is 802.3af compliant, or pair it with a PoE receiver adapter such as the POE10R for a device without built-in PoE. ARC IP Networks supplies the POE150S from Australian stock with the full manufacturer's warranty.
