The TP-Link Omada B5S4-2T is a 5MP PoE security camera system with four Omada 5MP bullet cameras and a 16-channel NVR with eight PoE+ ports and a preinstalled 2TB HDD. The cameras offer 2880 x 1620 video, 30 m IR and white-light night vision and person, vehicle and pet detection, and the NVR provides a 115 W PoE budget and 4K HDMI output.

Omada B5S4-2T overview

The Omada B5S4-2T packages four cameras and a recorder into one Omada surveillance system: four Omada 5MP bullet PoE cameras with a 16-channel NVR and a preinstalled 2TB hard drive. The NVR (Omada NVR16-8P-2T in TP-Link's datasheet) has eight PoE+ ports on 10/100 Mbps RJ45 interfaces, compliant with 802.3at/af, and a PoE budget of 115 W available for all PoE+ ports with up to 30 W per port. TP-Link says one Ethernet cable transmits power and data to each PoE camera, at up to 270 m in long distance mode; in that mode the port speed drops to 10 Mbps, and actual distance may vary. The four included cameras take four of the eight PoE+ ports, and the NVR manages up to 16 cameras in total (16 at HD or 2K/5MP, 12 at 4K/8MP, 8 at 12MP or 6 at 16MP).

Each camera uses a 1/2.65-inch progressive scan CMOS sensor and a fixed 4 mm F1.6 lens to record up to 2880 x 1620 (5MP) at 25 fps (50 Hz) or 30 fps (60 Hz), with a 92-degree horizontal, 48-degree vertical and 110-degree diagonal field of view. Two integrated infrared-white LEDs give 30 m of IR (850 nm) and 30 m of white light, and minimum illumination is 0.005 lux, or 0 lux with IR or white light. Detection covers motion, intrusion and line-crossing, each with people, vehicle and pet detection, plus video tampering detection. A built-in microphone records anything within a 5 m radius. The cameras are IP67 weatherproof and IK10 vandal proof, operate from -30 to 60 degrees C, and are powered by 802.3af/at PoE (max 8.7 W) or 12 V DC.

On the recording side, the 2TB drive is preinstalled in the NVR's single SATA bay, which supports up to 16 TB, and an eSATA port supports external storage of up to 16 TB. TP-Link says the drive supports continuous recording, and Smart Storage can record in SD while saving HD clips for events to make better use of space. Record modes are manual, scheduled and event recording, with H.265+, H.265, H.264+ and H.264 compression. The NVR offers 4K HDMI output (3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz) and VGA output at up to 1920 x 1080, used simultaneously, with 1/4/6/8/9/16 and custom multi-view layouts. TP-Link lists 16-channel synchronous playback, noting that fewer than 16 channels, or none, may play simultaneously if the total resolution exceeds 20MP.

For alerts, the NVR handles general alarms from the cameras and anomaly alarms such as disk errors, IP conflicts, single-port short circuit, port or total power exceeded and NVR offline, with linkage to a buzzer, pop-up screen, push notification, email, recording, light and audible alarms. TP-Link describes secure remote access to your cameras from anywhere via the app, on Android and iOS, and a web interface for Chrome, Firefox and Edge. The NVR supports ONVIF Profile G/S/T for Omada and ONVIF-compliant third-party cameras, up to 40 users and 32 simultaneous video streams, and runs from a 53.5 V DC / 2.43 A supply, operating from -10 to 55 degrees C. ARC IP Networks supplies the Omada B5S4-2T from Australian stock with the full manufacturer's warranty.
