The TP-Link Omada 5MP Bullet is a PoE security camera with 2880 x 1620 resolution, a 4 mm F1.6 lens and two infrared-white LEDs reaching 30 m for full-colour or IR night vision. It detects people, vehicles and pets, records sound with a built-in microphone, uses H.265+ compression and is rated IP67 weatherproof and IK10 vandal proof.

Omada 5MP Bullet overview

The Omada 5MP Bullet is TP-Link's outdoor bullet camera for Omada surveillance. Its 1/2.65-inch progressive scan CMOS sensor delivers a maximum resolution of 2880 x 1620, at 25 fps on 50 Hz or 30 fps on 60 Hz, through a fixed 4 mm F1.6 lens with an M12 mount. The field of view is 92 degrees horizontal, 48 degrees vertical and 110 degrees diagonal, and TP-Link's DORI distances for the 4 mm lens are 80 m to detect, 33 m to observe, 16 m to recognise and 8 m to identify. Minimum illumination is 0.005 lux, or 0 lux with IR or white light, and the image pipeline includes 120 dB WDR, BLC, 3D DNR and Smart IR with an SNR of 52 dB or better. TP-Link describes it as 5MP Super HD that lets you see every detail and stay in full control.

Night images can be in colour or infrared. The camera has two integrated infrared-white LEDs, with an IR range of 30 m at 850 nm and a white LED range of 30 m, and the illuminator can be set to auto, always on or always off. TP-Link's datasheet describes the Smart IR and colour night vision switch: spotlights activate for colour images when people or vehicles are detected, and otherwise the camera switches to infrared to reduce harsh light disturbance. TP-Link says the built-in spotlights reveal true colours and accurate details 24/7.

Detection covers motion with people, vehicle and pet detection, plus intrusion detection, line-crossing detection and video tampering detection. TP-Link says identifying people, vehicles and pets reduces false notifications. Alarm linkage options are sending email, uploading to FTP and message push. Video uses H.265+, H.265, H.264+ and H.264 on the main stream (256 to 6144 Kbps) and H.265/H.264 on the sub-stream (64 to 512 Kbps), with CBR or VBR, and up to three main streams and three sub-streams can be viewed simultaneously. A built-in microphone records anything within a 5 m radius, with environment noise filtering; there is no speaker. Up to four privacy masks can be set.

Installation uses PoE: one network cable delivers both power and data through the 10/100M RJ45 port, with 802.3af/at PoE at a maximum of 8.7 W, or a 12 V DC (plus or minus 5%) supply at a maximum of 7.4 W through a 5.5 mm coaxial plug. There is no on-board storage slot. You manage the camera through its web UI, the Omada Guard app or the Omada Cloud-Based Controller (Guard), and it supports ONVIF Profile S/T, Amazon Alexa and security features including HTTPS, 802.1X authentication and IP/MAC restriction. The all-metal housing weighs 0.42 kg, measures 169.8 x 74 x 74 mm, is rated IP67 and IK10, and operates from -30 to 60 degrees C. In the box are the camera, waterproof and mounting accessories, a network cable, a surveillance sticker, a mounting template and guides. ARC IP Networks supplies the Omada 5MP Bullet from Australian stock with the full manufacturer's warranty.
