The TP-Link OC200 is a small Omada hardware controller that runs the Omada SDN controller on site: TP-Link recommends it for managing 25 Omada access points, switches and gateways, with free cloud access through the Omada app or web UI, two gigabit Ethernet ports, a USB 2.0 port for automatic backup, and power from 802.3af/at PoE or Micro USB.

OC200 overview

Every Omada network needs a controller to unlock central management, and the OC200 is TP-Link's compact hardware option for smaller sites. Instead of leaving a PC running the Omada Software Controller, or paying for the cloud-based controller, the OC200 is a 100 x 98 x 25 mm box that plugs into the network, is powered by PoE, and keeps the controller running on premises around the clock. TP-Link recommends it for managing 25 Omada devices, based on its laboratory testing, to keep the experience stable and responsive; actual capacity varies with the deployment.

Hybrid cloud management means you are not tied to the site. Once the OC200 is set up, the network can be monitored and changed from the Omada app or the web UI from anywhere, with free cloud access, while the controller itself, and your configuration, stays on your own premises. That suits businesses that want local control and security without a monthly controller licence, and installers who need to reach a client's network remotely.

TP-Link describes a durable metal casing and a current chipset with headroom for network management. On the network side it has two 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet ports, and power comes from either 802.3af/at PoE on the Ethernet port or a 5 V Micro USB supply (minimum 1 A), so it can sit in a rack shelf or comms cabinet next to an Omada PoE switch with no extra power point. The USB 2.0 port is used for automatic configuration backup.

From the controller you manage the whole Omada stack: automatic device discovery, batch configuration and batch firmware upgrades, a dashboard with overview, topology, Wi-Fi, client and traffic views, abnormal-event warnings, reboot schedules and captive-portal configuration for guest Wi-Fi. TP-Link's current OC200 software adds site and device templates for repeatable rollouts, SD-WAN to connect branch offices to head office, and troubleshooting tools including SSH, packet capture and network diagnostics. L3 management and multi-site management are supported.
