The Mercusys MS124GS is a 24-port Gigabit desktop/rackmount switch with 48 Gbps of switching capacity. All twenty-four 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 ports auto-negotiate with auto MDI/MDIX, and it adds loop prevention, one-click Isolation Mode, 802.1p/DSCP QoS and 802.3x flow control, powered directly from 100-240 VAC.

MS124GS overview

The MS124GS is the 24-port Mercusys Gigabit switch for desks and racks. It has twenty-four 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 ports with auto-negotiation and auto MDI/MDIX. Mercusys calls these ten times faster than regular 10/100 Mbps ports and lists 4K UHD TVs, computers, printers, IP cameras and game consoles as compatible devices. Mercusys rates its switching capacity at 48 Gbps. The Australian product page shows hardware version V1.

Two features help keep a larger flat network tidy. Loop prevention monitors and addresses loop-related problems in the network structure so that looping does not disrupt traffic. Isolation Mode gives one-click client traffic separation for higher security and performance. Mercusys also lists 802.1p/DSCP QoS and IEEE 802.3x flow control among the advanced features, with store-and-forward transfer and an 8K MAC address table.

No setup is needed: Mercusys describes the MS124GS as plug and play, simple to use and saving time and effort. Standards supported are IEEE 802.3i, 802.3u, 802.3ab, 802.3x and 802.1p. LEDs indicate power, link/activity and 1000 Mbps operation.

Mercusys says the durable metal casing allows efficient heat dissipation and long network life. The switch measures 294 x 140 x 44 mm (11.6 x 5.5 x 1.7 in) and takes mains power directly at 100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz, so there is no external adapter. Operating temperature is 0 to 40 °C at 10-90% non-condensing humidity, and it carries CE and RoHS certification.
