The Mercusys MS112GMP is a 12-port Gigabit desktop switch with eight 802.3af/at PoE+ ports, two Gigabit RJ45 ports and two Gigabit SFP slots. The PoE+ ports deliver up to 30 W each from a 110 W budget, switching capacity is 24 Gbps, and Extend Mode (ports 1-4, 250 m), Isolation Mode and PoE Auto Recovery are built in.

MS112GMP overview

The MS112GMP adds fibre uplinks to a compact Gigabit PoE desktop switch. It has eight 10/100/1000 Mbps PoE+ ports, two 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 ports and two Gigabit SFP slots, which Mercusys describes together as four Gigabit uplink ports. The PoE+ ports comply with IEEE 802.3af/at and supply up to 30 W each, within a 110 W total budget. Mercusys notes the budget is calculated from laboratory testing and may vary with client limitations and environmental factors. The AU page lists V1.

Mercusys sums up the PoE benefits as simpler installation without electricians, lower costs from fewer cables and adapters, more flexible placement, and better power use with surge protection for devices. It lists IP cameras, access points, IP phones, PCs and video recorders as compatible. Extend Mode applies to ports 1-4 and gives up to 250 m of power and data, though ports in that mode drop to 10 Mbps and distance depends on device draw and cable type and quality. Isolation Mode splits ports 1-4 and 5-8 into separate groups for higher security.

PoE Auto Recovery runs on ports 1-8, continuously checking traffic from each powered device and rebooting any that stops sending packets for an extended period. The highlights also list Priority Mode on ports 1-2 for sensitive applications, though the specification table's feature list does not repeat it. Mercusys rates it at 24 Gbps and 17.856 Mpps, with an 8K MAC table and 15 KB jumbo frames. Setup is plug and play.

The fanless design reduces power consumption and works silently, and the metal case has a physical security lock slot and suits a desk or wall. It measures 209 x 126 x 26 mm and uses an external 54 VDC / 2.22 A adapter. Maximum power is 3.85 W with no devices powered and 124.32 W with a 110 W load (220 V / 50 Hz). It operates from -10 to 40 °C and carries CE and RoHS marks. In the box: the MS112GMP, a power adapter and an installation guide.
