The Mercusys MS110P is a 10-port 10/100 Mbps desktop switch with eight 802.3af/at PoE+ ports. Ports 1-8 supply up to 30 W each within a 65 W total budget, two non-PoE ports uplink to the internet and an NVR, and Extend Mode (250 m), Isolation Mode, port prioritisation and PoE Auto Recovery are built in.

MS110P overview

The MS110P is a Fast Ethernet PoE switch: all ten RJ45 ports run at 10/100 Mbps with auto-negotiation and auto MDI/MDIX. Ports 1-8 supply PoE+ to 802.3af/at powered devices at up to 30 W each, within a 65 W total budget. The other two ports carry no PoE and are meant for uplinks, one to the internet and one to the network video recorder. As always with PoE budgets, the 65 W is a lab figure. The AU page lists V1.

Note that the PoE ports, like the uplinks, are 10/100 Mbps rather than Gigabit. Surveillance in offices, dormitories and small firms is the stated target, with cameras, access points, phones, PCs and recorders as typical loads. A three-position Extend Mode switch (off, ports 1-4, or ports 1-8) raises PoE reach to 250 m. Ports in Extend Mode drop to 10 Mbps, and distance varies with device power draw and the cable quality and type.

One click walls off ports 1-8 from each other, so devices cannot snoop on one another and broadcast storms stay isolated. With it on, the two uplink ports remain available for the router and NVR. Port prioritisation helps voice and video hold quality. PoE Auto Recovery continuously checks data from each powered device and reboots one that stops sending packets for an extended time. Mercusys also lists 802.3x flow control, a 2K MAC table and 2 KB jumbo frames, with data rates of 20/200 Mbps at full duplex.

Among the Mercusys eight-PoE desktop switches, the MS110P has the most modest specification: 10/100 Mbps on every port and a 65 W budget. The MS110CMP keeps 10/100 PoE ports but lists Gigabit uplinks and a 115 W budget, and the MS110GMP and MS112GMP move all PoE ports to Gigabit with budgets of 111 W and 110 W.

The durable metal case measures 171 x 98 x 27 mm, and power comes from an external 53.5 V / 1.31 A adapter. It operates from 0 to 40 °C. A power adapter and a Quick Installation Guide come with the MS110P.
