The Mercusys MS108GP is an 8-port Gigabit desktop switch with seven 802.3af/at PoE+ ports (ports 1-7). Each port supplies up to 30 W within a 65 W total budget, Extend Mode stretches PoE to 250 m at 10 Mbps, and Isolation Mode separates traffic on ports 1-7. It is plug and play in a 171 x 98 x 27 mm metal case.

MS108GP overview

The MS108GP gives a small site seven PoE+ ports and a Gigabit uplink in one desktop unit. All eight RJ45 ports run at 10/100/1000 Mbps, and ports 1 to 7 supply PoE compliant with 802.3af/at powered devices at up to 30 W per port. The seven ports share a 65 W total power budget, so a full set of seven high-draw devices will not all receive 30 W at once. Mercusys derives the 65 W budget from lab tests; real-world output is not guaranteed. Hardware version V1 is listed on the AU site.

The MS108GP is pitched at office, dormitory and small-business surveillance, and Mercusys names cameras, APs, phones, PCs and recorders as suitable loads. Carrying power and data on one cable means no electrician, fewer adapters and cables, more placement choice, and better power use with surge protection for devices. The Extend Mode switch has positions for ports 1-4 or ports 1-7 and lifts PoE distance to 250 m. In that mode the port speed falls to 10 Mbps, and cable quality and device draw set the real reach.

All seven PoE ports can be isolated from one another with a single click, stopping tampering between devices and containing broadcast storms. Port prioritisation keeps delicate traffic such as voice and video at high quality in business settings. The switch auto-negotiates 10/100/1000 Mbps and MDI/MDIX automatically, so no configuration is needed. Mercusys lists 802.3x flow control, an 8K MAC address table, 9 KB jumbo frames and data rates of 20/200/2000 Mbps at full duplex.

The durable metal case measures 171 x 98 x 27 mm and Mercusys says it aids heat dissipation, signal interference prevention and equipment stability. An external 53.5 V / 1.31 A adapter powers it. Mercusys quotes 5.07 W maximum consumption with nothing powered and 77.33 W with 65 W of devices connected (220 V / 50 Hz). It operates from 0 to 40 °C. Packed with it: a power adapter and a Quick Installation Guide.

Seven. Ports 1-7 are PoE+, and all eight ports are Gigabit.

65 W in total, with up to 30 W per port. Mercusys bases this on laboratory testing and does not guarantee it.

No. Seven ports at 30 W would exceed the 65 W total budget, so plan the combined load.

A switch enables 250 m PoE on ports 1-4 or 1-7; those ports drop to 10 Mbps and distance depends on cable and load.

No. It auto-negotiates and handles MDI/MDIX automatically.

It separates traffic on ports 1-7 to help stop snooping and isolate broadcast storms.

171 x 98 x 27 mm in a metal case.

The MS108GP, a power adapter and a Quick Installation Guide.

An external 53.5 V / 1.31 A adapter.

Mercusys lists 5.07 W with no devices powered and 77.33 W with 65 W of devices.

0 to 40 °C, at 10-90% non-condensing humidity.
