Mercusys MS105GP 5-Port Gigabit Desktop Switch with 4-Port PoE+

https://arcip.com.au/web/image/product.template/8126/image_1920?unique=1a0ad29

The Mercusys MS105GP powers and connects up to four PoE devices from one small switch. All five RJ45 ports are Gigabit; ports 1-4 are 802.3af/at PoE+ with up to 30 W each and a 65 W total budget (based on laboratory testing). Extend Mode pushes PoE to 250 m with the port speed reduced to 10 Mbps, Isolation Mode separates traffic on ports 1-4, and the metal case suits desk or wall mounting.

The Mercusys MS105GP is a 5-port Gigabit desktop switch with four 802.3af/at PoE+ ports (ports 1-4). Each PoE+ port supplies up to 30 W within a 65 W total budget, Extend Mode reaches 250 m at 10 Mbps, and Isolation Mode and port prioritisation suit small camera and access point installs. It is plug and play in a metal case.

MS105GP overview

The MS105GP is the PoE member of the Mercusys 5-port family. All five ports are 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45, and ports 1 to 4 also deliver power over Ethernet compliant with 802.3af/at powered devices. Each PoE+ port supports up to 30 W and the four share a 65 W total power budget. Cameras, access points, IP phones, PCs and video recorders are all on Mercusys' compatibility list, with office, dormitory and small-business surveillance as the suggested uses. That 65 W is a lab result, not a guarantee: client devices and the environment change what you actually get. The AU page shows V1 and V2, and this page follows V2.

Running data and power over one cable is the core of the pitch. Mercusys says it removes the need for electricians, saves money on extra cables and power adapters, allows more placement options in complex situations, and improves power usage while protecting devices from power surges. For cameras on longer runs, Extend Mode increases PoE transmission distance on ports 1-4 to 250 m. In that mode the port speed drops to 10 Mbps, and the actual distance depends on the power draw of the PoE devices and the cable quality and type.

Two further features help on small camera networks. Flip the isolation switch and ports 1-4 can no longer see each other's traffic, which guards against snooping and isolates broadcast storms. Port prioritisation gives specific ports precedence so voice and video keep their quality. Beyond that the MS105GP is plug and play, with auto-negotiation and automatic MDI/MDIX and no configuration. Mercusys lists 802.3x flow control, IGMP snooping v1/v2/v3, a 2K MAC table, 9 KB jumbo frames and store-and-forward switching.

The switch measures 99.8 x 98 x 25 mm in a durable metal case that Mercusys says aids heat dissipation and interference prevention, and it can be installed on a desk or wall. Power comes from an external 53.5 V / 1.31 A adapter. Maximum power consumption is 3.13 W with no powered device connected and 75.15 W with a 65 W load (220 V / 50 Hz). Operating temperature is 0-40 °C at 10-90% RH non-condensing. In the box: the MS105GP, a power adapter and a Quick Installation Guide.

MS105GP compared

The MS105GP against its Mercusys 5-port siblings. It is the only one of the four that supplies PoE, with four PoE+ ports sharing 65 W; the MS105G and MS105GS are data-only Gigabit switches and the MS105GS-M2 is a data-only 2.5 Gbps model. Figures come from each Mercusys Australia product page.

Last reviewed October 2026.

Four. Ports 1-4 are PoE+; the fifth Gigabit port carries data only.

65 W in total with up to 30 W per port. Mercusys says the budget is based on laboratory testing and is not guaranteed.

With Extend Mode on, PoE reaches up to 250 m, but those ports drop to 10 Mbps and the distance depends on cable and device power draw.

It separates traffic on ports 1-4 with one switch, helping prevent snooping and isolating broadcast storms.

Yes. It auto-negotiates speed and MDI/MDIX and needs no configuration.

The MS106GP adds a sixth Gigabit port, PoE Auto Recovery and 12 Gbps switching capacity; both have four PoE+ ports and a 65 W budget.

An external power adapter with 53.5 V / 1.31 A output.

The MS105GP, a power adapter and a Quick Installation Guide.
